This is rant post about interview with a company I had for a dev role and they explained they use cursor, my thinking was “ok fair, access to AI tools is common place now”. The funny part came when they explained next steps and in particular:
“The next step is one to two hours interview where you will get poorly defined business requirements and we will track your interaction with cursor to complete them.”
WTF
Just waiting for society to collapse because someone thought every piece of important code needed to be wholly generated by AI.
I just want these companies to speedrun their demise, hopefully that will set some precedent for others… though I doubt it.
Really nice of the interviewers to clue you in to the toxic shithole of a work place where management is the moral equivalent of these mouth breathers:
I feel like there’s 2 ways a role.like that could go, either it’s toxic and shit or you’re some kind of computer god they bring trivial problems to and you can actually build shit you enjoy building that makes peoples lives better.
This shit is part of why I decided to just take a support role instead of getting back into software dev after my last job booted out my team. The entire field was toxic enough as-is but the AI bullshit now is insanity.
At least they were nice enough to say up front that the requirements will be shit.

Nah, I think it’s not the company itself it’s a symptom of a wider problem.
They won’t learn unless there are consequences to their stupidity.

How would that make anyone liable? Did they make op sign an NDA?
No but generally bad-mouthing about a company. They can make claims your post caused the drop of their stock and it’s now your turn to prove it didn’t.
