Well it is a representative democracy in most cases, so in reality it is governed by people’s representatives. That is a big difference because the market also represents the interests of the people in the way of price setting and supply and demand. And we can see it is not working.

Overall agree but “The market” created this problem. We cannot rely on it to solve it.

We need open standards, and lowering the barriers to entry, not creating “the European Google” or “the AWS of France”.

A book vaguely related to the topic is “the internet con” by Cory Doctorow. He explains how google and aws didn’t just “happen” but are a product and the beneficiary of a process of erosion of antitrust laws.
