How else will you find the energy to clean your shower at 3am if there’s no meth?

As a software developer, even when it comes to significantly more useful and locally-runnable tools like IDEs I would still be able to do without.
Anyone who can’t do their job at all without GenAI tools is a fraud and should resign immediately.
ditto
I wonder how long it would take if all hardware and code disappeared for an ide to be made again
All hardware? Decades, this shit is complicated as hell. Only software? I know I can write barebone vim using only vim and gcc in about a month of weekends and after work hours.
but what if you don’t have vim to write vim with?
That’ll be only a bit harder, unless frustration takes over. But if I don’t have gcc then we’re talking. However, it’s not that impossible, just complicated.
yeah, I’d imagine. It would certainly be an interesting project as well, for better and worse.
When I was in uni, my mate started making his own architecture on FPGA, with the goal of arriving at C from first principles. He abandoned it after 4 years, when it got too real, but that was quite a fun ride
