matt and trey’s guiding political opinion seems to be that it’s dumb to care about things, so I’m sure they would agree with me not giving a shit if matt and trey get drone striked over this

the epstein scandal is culture wars fodder at best and a distraction at worse; most americans didn’t give a shit about it during the biden administration.

Do you not understand that there was a significant development in the story recently? This isn’t like kids in cages where there’s a status quo that existed under Obama and persisted under Trump, but news just covered it in the latter case because it was only expedient then. If nothing was going on with Epstein, it wouldn’t be the scandal that it is – one that many Republicans care about more than Dems. This was something that the Trump campaign itself worked to drum up and then brought upon itself by trying to tell us that Epstein got really sad about the crimes that he and his girlfriend committed completely in isolation.

People did care about it before – I certainly did – but there wasn’t that much going on since Maxwell’s conviction (which was during the Biden admin and did produce discussion).

Oh, and Hexbear cares that the the genuine reality of the terrible sex crimes committed by the bourgeoisie (etc.) delegitimizes them and reveals the bipartisan support for depravity.

I don’t think that people don’t care about it, but I’m also of the opinion that it ultimately won’t matter. How many “I wanna see Trump wriggle his way out of THIS jam!” theaters do we need to realize that it’s not going to make a difference?

I’m not sure what any of this has to do with South Park and “culture war” though.

The thing is, basically all of those theaters were in the realm of litigation, which I agree will never get Trump. What sets this apart aren’t the legal consequences for depraved acts that he will 99.999% never face, but the destruction that it has done to his base of support, which you can see progressing every single day. All the ““independent”” media that backs him has been in a frenzy wrestling with their audience who won’t accept things like Kirk saying “I’m choosing to trust my friends in the government”.

Seriously the damage these fucks have done to political discourse is incalculable. The amount of kids/adults I’ve heard reference this show for their dogshit political opinions is way too high.

    wall ancaptain how-compelling-flipped

    • Considering their entire objection to Trump revolves around calling him a r-word-ed f-word, saying he has a small penis, implying he is gay with Satan (literally just their Saddam Hussein character); and that the moral of the episode seems to be “having an obvious fascist in office, makes it less funny when we want to have a character say fascist things”

I think it is safe to say you can safely skip it.

Oh, so the same exact stuff I already thought was cringe as a teenager 20+ years ago, and Matt and Trey have got to be in their 60s by now (no, actually they’re ”only” 54 and 56).

        • It is a shame. There are TONS of great attacks of Trump you could make from the libertarian right.

Perhaps if Matt and Trey were better comedians they could pull off something better than “he is fat and likes dudes, we gave his penis a funny voice”

The only upside is that the chud right is going to be very annoyed watching two of their heroes fight.

Conservatives love Cartman? The literal most selfish, self absorbed, delusional, piece of shit character with absolutely 0 empathy in the show? Color me surprised.

I haven’t watched the show in like fifteen years but just from seeing a few bits and pieces I know they don’t like Trump. Matt and Trey’s original take on him back in like 2015 was to have Mr Garrison put on orange face and scream into a microphone about “removed mexicans to death” to a hooting crowd.

I thought the really obnoxious teacher character was supposed to be their stand in for Trump?

Also you can’t get mad at me for knowing southpark, my brother binged the whole thing in middle school and I happened to be in the room for some of it

Reading people say “I lost it when…” really made me question my humanity. Why does this do nothing for me and someone else gets to enjoy it. I am starting to think nobody really laughs at it. We’ve culturally renforced the notion with one another that these hacks are funny because the open bigotry on tv made some people comfy.

imo this episode was only okay and the trump portrayal was the least funny part. he didnt seem at all like trump. trump has a specific personality and way of talking thats funny. replacing that with the same generic “funny canada voice” as a bunch of other characters seems like a big wasted opportunity

also they literally made trump canadian. he says aboot. why?
