They need the belief they don’t need the votes. I think they can manufacture that belief almost entirely through old media and bots on social media… In fact I personally believe they already did.

The Rockland County lawsuit is only just starting to move forward and we are only ~year away from misterms. If the midterms happen before that case closes, they have won. If not the war, then at least a major battle.

And I know, Rockland is only one of a number of credible lawsuits, but it’s gotten the most traction so far and you have to be realistic about how fast any of them will move.

If Dems had a collective backbone (yeah, I know, but let’s pretend), they’d make it clear that, on getting back in office, they’ll declare a state of emergency, suspend the part of the Constitution that gives the President unconditional pardon powers, and rescind every single pardon that Trump has issued unless it can be proven that it was not corruptly issued.

And while they’re at it, remove every single Trump-appointed judge, reverse every precedential decision that MAGA-majority courts have made, repeal every single piece of legislation, and roll back every executive order and regulatory change made by the Trump admininstration.

And since we’re on a roll, impose a lifetime ban on every single Trump appointee ever holding public or corporate office (after they’re removed from office), and shut down and seize the assets of any phony non-profit that was interfering in the political process, and apply the same ban to any billionair donors of those groups.

In other words, turn the system off and turn it back on. Hard reset.

I’ll be honest, the constitution is done in my eyes. Not BAD but needs to be so completely rewritten in order to prevent these man babies from doing shit again that it’s better to literally start over. The entire judicial system has been flawed if not outright broken for decades now. The electoral system is fucked beyond belief.

Seriously, it is hard to name a part of this society that is not foundationally broken. We need to start over. Have a new congress of states and shit. Create a NEW country.

I wish the constitution was done 😭. But I know the second a Dem president gets in office and tries to enact parody campaign funding or court debt relief, the 6-3 SCOTUS will strike it down as unconstitutional.

lol, wish it was that easy. But nah, the presidential immunity protects can’t fire justices or A3 judges. They’re in that shit for LIFE.

The best move is to just expand SCOTUS to like 13 seats and a Dem president appoints a bunch of liberal justices. If Dems can get a majority in the senate and everyone’s on board, they can definitely do it. Just gotta get all 50 or more senators on board with the nuclear option. Problem is, if republicans gain power, now with the precedent set, they’d expand SCOTUS even more and pack it with conservative justices, and they’d most likely keep going back and forth until we’re at like 2050 with like 60 judges on the Supreme Court 😂. But fuck it, let’s do it.

      It’s weird not to understand

      1. Republicans would have done that already if that were truly possible.
      2. Democrats want to run a country, for people, and that limits their actions. Republicans want to run a country into the ground, for themselves, and the fact that they don’t need there to be a country afterward means they can do so much more to the people and the country.

Biden had every opportunity to undo the tax breaks that Trump started. Obama had the option to fight citizens united.

Nah bruh. The presidential immunity protects from criminal prosecution, not overcoming legislative limits.

Congress (senate) controls the purse and taxes are congressional powers (Article 1, Section 8). And Joe Manchin was dead set on not raising taxes, because he’s a dumbass.

Biden has plenty of faults, but taxes was out of his control unless Manchin got his head out of his ass.

There is no real history of holding the forces of fascist regimes accountable. If you’re thinking of the Neuremberg Trials, I urge you to look up how many people actually got prosecuted and faced justice compared to the total number of Nazi officials. Spoiler: it wasn’t many.

Thinking that members of ICE or supporters of this administration will face ANY legal consequences for their actions is delusionally naive. They won’t.

Even in a magical fantasy scenario where MAGA loses all power, progressives get into office, and enact wide sweeping change to undo all of Trump’s damage and ensure it can’t happen again; the only thing that would happen to these people is that ICE loses funding and they have to find a new job. That’s it. And in reality, even if a progressive takes office, ICE funding is never going away. Just look at the TSA, we were promised it would be a temporary thing in response to 9/11. Does anyone really believe it’s temporary anymore? Does anyone expect even the most progressive politician to push to defund them?

honestly yes, defunding ICE, would be like dismantling the SS in germany. which did happen after WW2, along with the gestapo. they were declared a criminal organization, who committed crimes against humanity.

did all of them suffer for it? no, many of them were reabsorbed into other programs and orgs for the cold war by allies and even germany itself.

but those were only the valuable or lucky members (think project paper clip). most of the remaining less valuable members without good enough connections either fled or faced the nuremburg trials. even those that fled faced trials for decades afterwards.

ICE, if the progressives ever win, will likely be “dismantled” due to public outcry, if not that, its funding will be dramatically reduced to pre trump levels or lower, and those funds put into different agencies, and its less important members will either be absorbed into things like the military, “less extreme” border agencies, the police, national guard, etc. while ones who are proven to have commited terrible acts will likely be charged, if they dont flee in some form afterwards.

this of course is a “hopeful” outlook, history may repeat itself from time to time, but sometimes it plays the telephone game with itself. this is not a blue print, but a potential outcome based on history.

i guess we’ll see. but i HIGHLY doubt the next election will be fair, or have a progressive outcome.

there will likely be a full blown civil war before another “fair” election is had again.

I sure hope it gives them pause, but I don’t think any of these assholes will face consequences. I mean, if recent history is any guide.

The J6 terrorists got a slap on the wrist (and were all given a pardon by Taco), and AFAIK, none of the orchestrators of the attempted coup and those that planned and stoked the terrorism got any punishment whatsoever.
