The courtroom sketch artist thing is really dumb. Like really, really, really dumb. I understand the history behind it, but they need to ditch this shit and just have official court photographers. Cuz it’s just fucking stupid.
Why are court drawings? Is there some sort of a liberal theater that prevents just filming the whole thing?
Liberals believe the law is a paranormal force that exerts magical power, so they treat the courtroom like a temple
Federal and some states (in this case NY) forbid cameras in courtrooms, hence the drawings. I’m sure there’s some antiquated BS reason for it that I can’t be bothered to look up.
It’s because there was some courtroom incident where it was absolutely flooded with independent photographers and they caused some sort of incident

The common justification I hear for this is to avoid making a trial a media spectacle. If there is no camera then you can’t act for the camera
