The golden standard for shooter manifestos is manifestos uploaded on Pastebin a few hours before the act. As an aside, I also find it somewhat strange that people would take the side of the prosecution whether we discuss these shooting. For example, Luigi pled not guilty, meaning he legally denies (or I suppose refuses to acknowledge if you’re being pedantic) being the shooter, so for someone to say that Luigi is the shooter, they’re basically agreeing with the DA.

I would just say to consider Chapo_is_Red’s response and then Nopeace’s response to that in this same thread. And OP’s response, “could be true for all we know.” It could be. But that’s the problem. The narrative on any given event is so openly and nakedly just an agenda that doesn’t even need to have a tangential relationship to reality, so our best bet at landing somewhere within the realm of truth is to first assess who benefits from the story as it is being presented. It might be true, but it’s on equal footing with all the so-called conspiracy theories because that’s all any of it is anymore, an ocean of spin. It’s not that feds weren’t always compulsive liars because of course they were, but the lesson there isn’t that they can be taken at their word like most people used to do before the post-truth era, it’s that we never should have trusted them about anything to begin with. But we should even less now because it is a lot worse than it used to be, where they practically flaunt how batshit they can be with the media fully on board no matter how contradictory the shifting narrative gets in comparison to what it was the day before and vast swathes of the public will eat it whole because their team is the faction currently pushing it.
You’re right, not everything is a government plot. But everything they say is a narrative they’re pushing, and it may or may not have any relationship with reality. If it is true, you have to ask how they benefit from actually telling the truth this time.

the trans roommate, “kirk is full of hate”, the bella ciao and “hey fascist catch!”. there’s a reason why the current narrative is so hyperfocused on these things. it all plays into the recently propped up agenda of transgender people being “inherently violent” which is the card they always like to pull when it comes to minorities. someway, somehow the feds will find a way to pin at least some responsibility on said roommate just for the crime of being trans under a regime that’s dead set in causing as much pain to the trans community as possible. even the legal documents that mention the trans roommate go out of their way to misgender her. but on the other side of the spectrum, you go to places like twitter and their conspiracy fanfiction it makes the feds look sane in comparison. it truly boggles the mind at how there will always be a subset of people that will bend over backwards to draw parallels where there aren’t any to use a man’s murder to further subjugate a minority they hate.

…the island on tyler’s wallpaper. apparently there’s a restaurant (?) named valhalla on the island. some individuals immediately linked that to patel doing his weird viking larp at the arrest announcement fbi conference, and then determined that somehow that larp is a hint that the murder was set up by the government to do ???people will see what they want to see. that’s how our brains are wired. we intrinsically seek out a set of patterns we’ve grown accustomed to in everything we come across. people on hexbear saw the “bella ciao” and the helldivers references and immediately assumed that the kid was a groyper. on the other hand, 4chan saw the “OwO what’s this?” and brought out an arsenal of slurs to call tyler. that’s how the ball rolls. i guess things haven’t really changed in that regard. i doubt the truth about the vietnam war made headlines back in the day. but back then the issue with information exchange was how limited it was. nowadays, the issue is how unlimited it all is. there’s so much information about everything that eventually the truth just gets drowned out by hours upon hours of useless commentary, cracked theories and misinformation pumped out by AI and malicious actors. there is simply too much of everything. anyone can go online and make a claim, and no matter how absolutely insane it is, it will find its audience and become someone’s mantra of what really happened.
conspiracies are symptoms of a system which routinely bullshits the people. all we can really do as individuals is learn how to pick apart hidden agendas in the tainted information we’re fed and draw our own conclusions.
I think a lot of people are just nervous about the crackdown that feels imminent and are hoping he’d be another nazi shooter or something. Although, I don’t think it would ultimately change much, as they’d find some other justification to bring the hammer down anyway. The shooter being an almost entirely apolitical G*mer who wrote dumb reddit memes on his bullets is just as American as if he was a nazi.
The smart ones don’t get caught. Cops aren’t that smart, and even with all of the digital surveillance tools at their fingertips, other law enforcement agencies are also staffed by people who peaked in high school, so you have to be pretty dumb to leave enough evidence to get you caught. It still amazes me that these people don’t look for where cameras are before they do something like this, because the first thing that LE does is pour over surveillance footage. Some podcaster with a dismal reputation on here frequently says the right is incapable of threat assessment.
I agree and disagree at the same time on whether we’re being too conspiratorial. I think it’s where you place the conspiracy that matters.
Here’s how I think it would play out in a way that allows feds to get their way: Tyler goes on the run. He gets cornered in a remote area, cops don’t know if he is armed. Either they claim Tyler shot himself (he allegedly said he was thinking about it) or they claim they shot Tyler in self defense. Now Tyler is out of the way and anything can be said about him. His last words, his motives are all up for grabs.
However, it didn’t happen that way. Tyler walked, unarmed, into the police station and peacefully turned himself in. Now you have someone who will eventually talk. Your options are to kill him or try to mitigate his future confession. He’s not dead yet. It could be that the cops make it easy for a revenge shooting to take place and we get a lazy Jack Ruby thing. He might commit suicide in jail. We have to wait and see. But while he’s not dead, their option is to piece together his motives in a way that benefits their narrative.
Propaganda is about emphasis. They are placing emphasis on certain pieces of evidence and not others. They do not want you to consider all the evidence in full context. They want you to focus on certain things. This is why you will get partially released chat logs, texts, photos, and anything else right up to the point of it being illegal withholding of evidence. We may see a little scuffle between the courts and prosecution in the future about missing context for evidence.
The roommate appears to also be a problem. Like Tyler, the ideal thing would be for them to put up a fight. They didn’t though. They cooperated immediately and genuinely seem surprised by Tyler’s actions. As much as the feds are fascists, they’re not crossing the line into what we expect of them. They didn’t black bag the roommate and take them to a remote site for interrogation. They didn’t plant a gun or drugs on the roommate as justification kill them or arrest them.
You have an incompetent federal investigation that hasn’t gotten their way this whole time. They want to create a narrative but now they have to be clever about it. They are not clever people. They want to do the conspiracy, but they can’t carry it out without cooperation. Kash can’t just walk in and shoot Tyler in the head in front of all the local or state Utah cops. Yes they’re fascist and most of them probably like Trump, but they aren’t on board for that level of involvement.
Their only recourse is to take the evidence and frame it in a way that fits their narrative. That’s the level of conspiracy we’re dealing with. How do the feds finesse this in a way that doesn’t alienate everyone involved from cooperating? Can they construct a case in a way that doesn’t get push-back from local investigators, dozens of lawyers, and the judges that are going to be involved.
I don’t think we’re dealing with a situation where Trump hand picked a 20-something Utah resident to take the fall. People keep throwing around “who benefits?” but I think they’re misapplying that heuristic. Any news story that isn’t about Epstein distracts from Epstein. You either stop reporting new events until the Epstein thing wraps up or you make every event about Epstein. Trump benefits from everything because that’s how our system is set up, not because Trump is omniscient. Remember Shock Doctrine? Disaster capitalism.
