Graham Platner to @daveweigel.bsky.social:
"How do you expect to win back men when you go back through somebody’s Reddit history and just pull it all out and say: ‘Oh, my God, this person has no right to ever be in politics?’"
DSCC Chair Gillibrand: “It’s up to the voters of Maine to decide.”
Starting to really sour on the “second chance” “rehabilitative justice” shit. It’s increasingly being used as a cudgel against socialist politics. It’s not even an actual fucking aspect of historical socialism to believe in it necessarily and social fascists use it as a gotcha against us for not wanting some evil dipshit associated with our movement.
I wasn’t aware that “rehabilitative justice” meant voting for the proud Iraq war criminal with a giant nazi tattoo on his chest playing dumb about its obvious meaning. Guess I just don’t understand radlib theory
My opinion on troops that realize that everything they’ve done wrong at a moral level has always been “good, keep your head down and shut the fuck up”.
It has been a very effective tactic though. Every appeal to “good intent” and call to pragmatically put our concern behind us, is a mask for opportunists and assimilators to defang every leftist movement. And they did so almost unopposed.
I think it’s great if some former troop realizes that was wrong and starts working towards a better world as a rank and file member of the DSA or PSL or whatever.
But it’s always some fucker whose first appearance in progressive politics is trying to run for office, isn’t it?

And then you get called “carceral” by some know-nothing radlib.
it’s funny they think we believe people like him should be in prison
