I just finally started the End of Dragons content, despite missing various random stuff before it. That’s the worst part of GW2’s otherwise super-tame monetization: it’s a pain between expansion packs snd living world stuff to actually buy the entire game in one cost-efficient chunk.
Yeah, I actually JUST got back into it since launch because I saw an ad for the upcoming expansion that mentioned a sale & when I looked it was like $40 for the first 3 expansions plus all the Living World seasons, which after paying that much every 3 months for FFXIV and getting a far more shit experience despite being a veteran of 11 and longtime fan, I felt like it was worth the price of entry. Surprisingly when I booted it up and logged back into my account I had 4 level 5-10 characters on their 11th birthday so I got a bunch of leveling boosts and whatnot, yay. Can’t remember why I wound up bouncing off it so hard though given I did play GW1 as well (but on Steam so I don’t get any of the GW1 legacy bonuses which PISSES me off. ArenaNet you can surely find the account info for any steam user why can’t I link them together)
I would say the most annoying part of my GW2 experience thus far though is the fact that I miss Monk and the Hero Point system not being account wide but nearly everything else (masteries, wardrobe, bank, wallet, mounts, etc) is. Like yeah I know there are HP trains frequently run by people so it isn’t hard to get 250 points for each specialization, but man I wish you could switch them around because I don’t WANT to do another train to unlock Chronomancer/Mirage but I do want to try Chronomancer support…but then again I have a ranger I wanted to do HoT with (my idea as I bought the expansions and committed myself to playing through them was to like, get a feel for the classes I had selected for characters 11 years ago, and thankfully I made a Sylvari Ranger so I was like ‘yeah I should do HoT with him’ once I got through the core story and realized what HoT was shaping up to be about; until I realized I wanted to play a druid but I would be damned if I did a HP train) so either way I will complain lol.
My elementalist is so fucking ugly I dunno what the fuck kinda weed I was smoking back in 2014 when I was going through making these characters but I basically wound up with a ‘default human #1’ looking ass elementalist. Why did I choose human for an elementalist anyways and a Asuran Mesmer?? Why is the Thief I made asuran as well am I biased against the asurans?? (i’m biased FOR the asurans tbh it has been very funny to me hearing my mesmer get increasingly more fed up with the world and people in general. I’m like 30% of the way through Path of Fire and every time he opens his mouth I’m like ‘yeah I would be fed up with this dumb bullshit too’. Rytlock, buddy, if I could do it you would be sent to Taimi’s Rata Novus labor camp…)
