The head of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue branch, which runs a network of teams stationed across the country that can swiftly respond to natural disasters, resigned on Monday.

Ken Pagurek’s departure comes less than three weeks after a delayed FEMA response to catastrophic flooding in central Texas caused by bureaucratic hurdles put in place by the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the disaster response agency.

Pagurek told colleagues at FEMA that the delay was the tipping point that led to his voluntary departure after months of frustration with the Trump administration’s efforts to dismantle the agency, according to two sources familiar with his thinking. It took more than 72 hours after the flooding for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to authorize the deployment of FEMA’s search and rescue network.

“It is laughable that a career public employee, who claims to serve the American people, would choose to resign over our refusal to hastily approve a six-figure deployment contract without basic financial oversight,” another DHS spokesman said in a statement about Pagurek’s resignation.

another DHS spokesman is complete fucking asshole, idiot.

Funny how the federal government had no problem hastily sending troops to LA when it was completely unnecessary.

I had to stop myself from downvoting you out of frustration for just reading that comment. Like jesus fucking christ, 100+ people died and they’re sitting on their ass worried about a ‘six-figure deployment contract’. That’s less than a million dollars! That’s fucking nothing at a government level!!!

Do you have something to back up the MAGA claim? The things I know about him are that he was a Philly firefighter for 20 years, then was assigned to FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, served there for ten years, and became it’s head last year (before Trump). I haven’t seen anything about his politics.

It doesn’t seem the MAGAs have publicly been a fan of his, so I wouldn’t be totally sure on that.

State Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Allegheny, referred to Ken Pagurek, a first responder from Pennsylvania Task Force 1, as a “dick,” using the slur during a committee meeting on Tuesday.

A video shows Robinson, who serves as the chair of the Labor and Industry Committee, leaning towards Sen. Doug Mastriano, making the disgraceful comment, presumably and wrongfully assuming that the microphone was off. The delegation noted that Mastriano seemed amused by the observation.

Where does it say this guy is MAGA? Do you always spout random opinions with zero facts to back it up?

Yes, I do this often because I am dumb and seek to learn and be educated by people smarter than me constantly. My opinions are often wrong and I desire the opposite.
