Not some 300th degree of abstraction where you have to trace constellations to land on some vague anti-semitic idea.

I’ve had several instances in the past few weeks in which I’ve spoken to otherwise politically oblivious people and heard actual condemnation of the genocide. Followed up with the conflation of Israel with Jews, ascribing all the awful shit the piece of shit country to Jews in general.

Who could have possibly seen this coming?

the zionist project conflates itself with “all jewish people” on purpose, it’s sad and disgusting but also expected that some people believe the propaganda

They watch the images of little children crying that their parents have been blown to chunks while Israel insists this is the Jews’ doing….what else are people to believe?

Literally the only people in the entirety of the world pushing the truth that Israel doesn’t speak for all Jews are us, the ‘annoying’ blue haired transgender wokes who went ‘hysterical’ all over college campuses.

The Israeli government and its international sponsors/defenders have been telling people for decades that if they oppose the oppression and murder of the Palestinian people, it must be the case that they hate all Jews, so effectively that support for the oppression and murder of Palestinians is a position universally held by all Jews.

It was inevitable that some steadily growing number of people were going to believe them.

Every leftists/progressives/Liberals defending Palestinian rights needs 5 minutes to make sure that Zionist feelings are safeguarded and that they condemn any violent Palestinian acts

Right wing people defending Palestinians don`t care and just bulldoze everything in their path.

Which of these 2 inspires confidence? because people don’t like to be associated with weakness. The fact that people still think you can debate people into being anti-zionist is insane, do you think zionists don’t know what Teodore hezl’s project is not a colonial project?

The best arguments are telling them ‘‘I don’t care’’, ‘‘it`s not my problem that the genocidaire is Jewish’’ or just actively mock them

Half of Germans weren’t wiped out in a genocide in living memory (which makes israel all the more fucked up, but it is a difference between those two things). You can and should be anti Zionist but it’s wrong to think that antisemitism is somehow meaningless or not worth talking about when it is legitimate, just because they use it as a bullshit excuse doesn’t mean it doesn’t still happen pretty often too.

Israel was already in works before the holocaust - it only solidified Zionism in the surviving european jewish population and gave western states a very “good” reason to support israel without limits.

But anyways, yeah anti-Semitism still exists but centering it each time when israel kills people is also a choice.

Right after the Al-Aqsa Flood my dad was pontificating about how the illegal Zionist entity was a a forward defensive post, guardian western civilization against the barbarian islamic hordes. A beacon of democracy, intelligence and civilization, surrounded by evil villains. The Jewish people were presenting as some super-intelligent, super-civilized super-westerners.

The other day he unprompted told me that the zionists were committing genocide and that the illegal zionist entity should never have been founded in the first place. He then veered into talking about how it was “the Jews” who were doing the atrocities.

There are only so many massacres you can witness before you start thinking the perpetrators are the baddies.

I’d say that your dad’s previous opinion about the Jews was just plain antisemitism, except he held them up on a pedestal, holding the Jews up as superhuman or something. And now he feels the opposite about the Jews, he thinks they are scum, similar views that the Nazis had. It’s still antisemitism.

Actual antisemitism (hatred of jews rather than questioning isn’treal) has been an american thing since day one. Columbus left Spain on his famous voyage while his financial backers were expelling jews who had been there for centuries at least, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find that some of the money for his three ships came from expelled jews.

I’m half jewish and can count the number of antisemitic comments I’ve heard in my life on one hand, but one was just a few weeks ago when I was at the supply store for my blue collar job, a wretched hive of rightwing scum and villainy, where one of the white boomers there said something about “jewing someone down” right next to me. This dude also almost certainly supports amerikkka committing suicide to defend isn’treal. I of course couldn’t say a fucking word to this piece of shit because then I would have trouble doing basic shit for my job for the rest of my career in this hellhole.

israel has really fucked Jewish people’s reputation globally, I don’t think there’s any point in denying or downplaying that. The conflation of jewish identity with israel has been horrifically successful in some circles.

To me, this is one of the main values of highlighting the existence and activity of jewish antizionists.

    • EDIT: just to be clear, I’m not endorsing zionist-style claims of a wave of antisemitism threatening jewish safety, just saying that a lot of people who used to be more positive or neutral towards jewish people now have much more negative attitudes than before.

You know the saying: “when someone tells you who they are, believe them?” Zionist Jews have been saying that murdering children is an essential Jewish value, and that opposing this is antisemitic. Guess what? People are going to believe them on this.

Yeup. One of my guilty pleasures is the"ask a manager" blog, and she (Jewish-American) had a Jewish-American reader write in the other day because someone had put up a swastika at her workplace and the company was failing to do anything about it. Just to prove that we need to be careful about antisemitic infiltration, this was an escalation from a previous piece of vandalism where someone had put up “kill all Zionists”, which the company also refused to do anything about (and while that’s fair given, y’know, Zionists, the fact that the follow up was a literal hate crime I think does paint a picture of what’s going on there)

Of course the infuriating thing about this kind of antisemitic co-opting of antizionism is that it makes it impossible to reasonably say “well… Maybe Zionists ARE bad and it’s no more unreasonable to say ‘kill all zionists’ than ‘kill all fascists’”, because yeah, when someone’s putting up fucking swastikas you WILL look like a freak.

I dunno, fucking Nazis never fail to make literally everything worse.

Followed up with the conflation of Israel with Jews, ascribing all the awful shit the piece of shit country to Jews in general.

This has been the longstanding and explicit position of the US, EU, UK, Canadian, and Australian governments and all associated mainstream media: that Israel is the exclusive representative and arbiter of Judaism, and that anyone Israel recognizes as Jewish is their subject. To deny any of these things is considered the primary definition of antisemitism by the majorities of people in these countries, and this is being increasingly codified into law. Surveys consistently show supermajorities of self-identifying Jewish people outside occupied Palestine agreeing with these definitions.

If you’re a normie “non-political” citizen living within the empire, what incentive is there for you to spontaneously decide “no, actually my entire government, every ‘reputable’ news source I consume, and likely every Jewish person I remember speaking with in real life are all wrong about what it means to be ‘Jewish’ or ‘antisemitic’”? Anyone willing to accept a complete break with the dominant ideology of their society is likely someone who’s already radicalized in other ways, for better or worse.

yes it’s disappointing. 2 years ago as the genocide in gaza escalated, a western-iranian friend of mine was pretty anti-palestine and I was bringing them around to a more historically coherent, anti-genocide perspective. after the attacks yesterday I reached out to offer support and they’ve veered off into blaming religion. it’s pretty disappointing. I can only imagine the level of iranian chud discourse right now. I hope that after the shock of this vile attack wears off that I can talk them around to a more materialist understanding that differentiates zionism from judaism

Iran is home to the largest population of Jewish people in west Asia outside of occupied Palestine.
