It’s at a base a 5/5 flyer for 5 that deals 2 to oppo’s face when it comes in. Not bad, very good in limited as a removal check.
Sometimes I look at these cards and I just cannot believe how many words are printed lol. This is such a wall of text, no wonder they had to shorten “enters the battlefield” to just “enters”. This seems really strong to me.
If this and Glimpse the Impossible are part of a new trend in how red’s temporary draw mechanic is going to work, I don’t like it. Deciding whether to use those cards, or whether the better play involves letting them go, is skill-testing. Giving a consolation prize if they’re not used feels like hand-holding.
This is part of a larger conversation one could have about all the times Wizards has said “we stopped using that drawback because players didn’t like it,” seemingly forgetting about the fact that said drawback was the only thing keeping otherwise overpowered cards fair. That’s how power creep happens.
I think the first was Visions of Phyrexia in BRO. So far in standard sets the upside has been for rares only, so far. Or maybe a Chandra’s up tick sometime?
I do kinda agree, I don’t want the consolation prizes/effects to be commonplace for the same reasons.
