I just moved my shop (an LGS) to a new location, and i found one of my rule books that used to come in the Alpha and Beta starter decks (i think they came in Unlimited and Revised too, unsure of that as i never purchased any of either set).

I am going to try and scan the entire thing tomorrow.

This is amazing!! Please do, I would love to see this.

The oldest rule books I own are from the Tempest block, but I believe I still have a few of them back they sold 60 card boxes.

I learned to play from one of these. Thought I might still have it, but I just checked and it wasn’t where I thought it would be. I’m interested to see the full scans if you do post them.

People have always told me i was crazy because my first real tournament deck was just something like 28 [[Lightning Bolt]] and 12 Mountains. The only rules in this book for deck construction, is it must be at least 40 cards. The rule of 4 came some time later.

Wow, even the original rulebook was over 40 pages. To think Magic has only gotten more complex since then…

I love the narration of the sample game. “The Sprites thus wing merrily over to your opponent…”. And the “Mana Chart” that gives the rationale for each of the colors.
