Tuesday’s results leave Republicans reeling as Democrats consolidated power in governors’ offices, state courts, attorney general seats, and city halls, reshaping political dynamics in three key states ahead of the midterms and the 2028 election. The outcome also represents a major defeat for President Donald Trump, who worked frantically to rally support for Republicans and even issued threats in an attempt to defeat Mamdani.

    Hope is dangerous

'Murica has let me down too many times before

And the real problem is the Tangerine Toddler fomenting riots so that he can declare martial law, suspend all elections and declare himself as Supreme Leader

There’s a difference between hoping things will be different and hoping things can be different. I agree, the former can be dangerous. It’s creates passivity. The later is necessary to create a better world though. Otherwise, you’ve got nothing to fight for.

Hope is the unbreakable human spirit manifested. It is not dangerous. The fascists are dangerous whether we have hope or not.

Who gives a fuck if Donnie tantrums. He was going to tantrum anyway so enjoy the win and keep the momentum going. They expect us not to fight back and we just did.

You’re not wrong. It’s uplifting news, but it’s a turning point at best. The USA really need to keep that momentum going. There is still a long road ahead.

I’m so fucking tired of being right with my political predictions

I predicted Trump’s first and second elections. Brexit, Scott Morrison in Oz a few years ago, Luxon in NZ, the shitty situation in Argentina, Meloni in Italy etc.

Sure, I was right about some good stuff too, but I’ve been more right about awful things and I want to be wrong when I know that some cunt is going to cause harm.

I really want to be wrong

Trump keeps the government shut down. He keeps sending ICE to do shitty things. He keeps withholding SNAP, and eventually people start to get desperate and riot

            He doubles down

Riots get worse, until he declares martial law. Elections are suspended. He refuses to step down as president. Due to his nature and dementia, he tries ruling as a king, where his whim is law

I’m not sure how long it lasts before something breaks, but the damage will be immense. And the worst thing is that I don’t think the US will change significantly afterwards. It’ll remain somewhere where cruelty, selfishness etc. is celebrated

I dunno. Voting is a fantastic experience. Telling people they can’t do it because reasons seems like - i know, i know, but it seems like even the white rural gun loving temporarily-embarassed-millionaires would have a big problem with that.

The backwards morons who like Trump only value voting when it suits them

If they think there’s a chance that their orange messiah will be voted out, they will happily go along with voting being stopped

They’re also very keen on voting rights being ceased for anyone other than themselves

You’re worrying about something that he’s planning to do regardless. Quit fear mongering yourself. Placating to fascists is what puts in much worse position.

      It’s worse than that:

He can legally remove-citizenship from anybody, now, & no court-injunction has any power on him, or his appointees I read ( that was bundled-into his big “beautiful” bill, apparently )

All he has to do is create “justification” for declaring the Democratic party to be terrorists, denaturalize all of 'em, & then there ARE no non-Republican judges left, legal, in the country…

Nobody to appeal to: your accuser is the Republicans, & your judge will also be Republican.

Dig-in, people, hire private-investigators ( or get books on it, & books on journalism, & books on building a legal case, & get competent, pronto, if you can’t afford to hire help ) to get the evidence required against the electorate who’ve been breaking the law ( insider-trading, e.g. ), & GET leverage, before there’s none left…

The assuming victory habit that the Dems have used to “protect” themselves, thus-far ( like how their assuming protected Harris’s victory, while they sat at home, smug ), has cost too-much leverage, thus-far.

Just recently it gave Trump’s buddy Millei another term, in Argentina…

Get pragmatic, dig-in, unearth & earn owning-of, all remaining available leverage, & use it while you can…

They’re literally replicating nazi Germany’s ever-escalating progression, & the nazis using legalism to dismantle rule-of-constitution, & the US’s “night of long knives” will come, sooner-or-later…

      it’s only a matter of when, now…

No, he can’t. Not even Congress can change the Constitution without an amendment. Trump can “try” to make the claim that he can do this, but the courts will stop him.

I get that things seem bleak, but you can blame that on the media for not adequately covering all his losses in court. He has been blocked on almost everything that he’s been trying to do. What he has been able to get away with, is a vastly toned-down version of what he wanted to do…and he seems unwilling to push the envelope too far. Which means he knows he won’t actually get away with it.

Most of his “power”, comes from lying to you about what he can and can’t do. Don’t give him too much credit.

Its also, little solace as it may be, against international law for a country to denaturalize any of its born citizens and leave them stateless

And has the loses in court stopped them? The courts have no enforcement arm.

It actually has stopped a lot of what they’ve been trying to do. They’ve been getting spanked in court, and it’s actually pretty entertaining watching how incompetent they all are.

They’re strong to the weak and weak to the strong

And they just showed a lot of weakness. They’re going to fall to infighting for a while… Every MAGA member of Congress just watched their chances of reelection evaporate

The elections weren’t rigged or suspended. No amount of money made a difference. A bajillion endorsements and backroom deals barely moved the needle
