He slithered his way into being Bush’s VP, then controlled shit behind the scenes. GWB has commented something along the lines of Cheney ruined his legacy. Cheney was connected in DC and lots of people in Bush admin we’re actually Cheney associates. Cheney was also connected to GHWB, which means he’s a friend of the CIA.

Through all those connections, it’s broadly speculated that Iraq invasion was always his plan even before taking office. Most VPs don’t have much public profile but he was on TV lying to America about Iraq and Afghanistan

Cheney and his oil baron cronies profited off the wars.

Cheney publicly defended torturing prisoners in Gitmo and Abu Graibh

Cheney assumed control of the US government from a bunker on 9/11 (IIRC?)

Usually I don’t say his about VPs but I Cheney is as much a war criminal as anybody else in the Bush administration

Basically every bad foreign policy that the Bush 2 administration did can also be laid at Cheney’s feet. He strongly believe in the Unitary Executive and would seize that role for himself whenever possible.

He gave up his highly lucrative position as CEO of Halliburton in 2000 to run for U.S. Vice President, Haliburton has made at least $39.5 billion in Iraq since the invasion of occupation, he profited more as the relatively low paid VP by pushing the country in another war

He was the main architect of the invasion and occupation and was a large factor in the pushing of knowingly false information like ‘Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi intelligence’ which is completely false but helped cement the connection between Iraq and 9/11 in the eyes of enough of the public that they were able to invade without too much domestic resistance

Enabled and later excused the ‘enhanced interrogation’ torture of detainees specifically in those in Guantanamo, he publicly stated waterboarding and other even worse techniques were ‘absolutely necessary’

He also got away with shooting one of his friends so you know he’s also a dick on a personal level too

But to millions around the world, he was also a deeply divisive figure, his legacy tainted by bloodshed and chaos following the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, lies about Baghdad’s non-existent weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), domestic cyber-snooping and the torture of Guantanamo Bay inmates.
