I’m suddenly seeing a lot of people claim leftists should be against free immigration/emmigration cause it drives down labor value, which is extremely concerning statement to say the least.
It’s a European thing mostly because every white European has seemingly become extremely racist anti immigration in the past few years. It’s a big reason why fascism is happening literally everywhere here.
That sentiment has been around since Engels, who ironically enough, directed his ire to the Irish[1]
It’s been a thing since forever, and is the same talking point right wingers use. I remember watching WWE back in the day and some chud on the show was using that talking point.
I think it should be noted there has also been a number of Irish socialist and communist groups that have condemned these riots. PBP and the Communist Party of Ireland have both spoken out against it.

Half of them aren’t even “leftist” or socialist they’re nationalist Republicans first and they have no real basis in Marxist theory or anything.
There is still a very strong Republican tradition in this country but any sense of actual socialism was killed with conolly 100 years ago.
I’ve tried joining multiple supposed Marxist groups since moving here and they’re all either primarily focused on republicanism with either no or little basis in Marxist or class politics or they’re trots and/or filled with sexual assaulters
The average “socialist” in this country only calls themselves that because the IRA did, and would rather unite the repiblic with northern Ireland with a capitalist country in charge of the entire island than have a dotp in charge of the Republic.

Why do Americans keep wanting to come here? There’s literally no fucking housing or jobs unless you’ve already been hired by Microsoft or Apple or something.
Plus we are literally having racial pograms and race riots and white supremacists going out and attacking people of color for not being white every week now and it’s only getting worse.
Honestly? Because it’s easy to move to, it’s not part of the UK, and I don’t want to dox myself too hard but it has several job openings in a pretty niche field that I can fill. Our original plan was to move to Mexico but that kind of fell through.
Plus it’s too fucking hot and bright here.

And if you want your Mexican wife to be safe I don’t think Ireland with it’s rapidly growing Nazi problem is the best bet.
You also will not be able to find housing. I’m not joking. The government is owned by landlords and the housing problems gets worse every year (part of why the Nazi problem is growing)
The only reason I have housing as an immigrant is because I live with my girlfriend who is native here.
Again, I don’t want to dox myself too badly but we’ve done the research and the problems Ireland is having are what we’re used to. We already can’t find housing and we’re already surrounded by those kinds of dudes here. Major difference is you can’t find a job in my field here and Ireland doesn’t have death camps.
I’m not in charge of ya. If you have a good job lined up it’s not a bad idea. I’m just mad at every liberal and leftist thinking this country is some sort of paradise because they fall for the tourism propaganda

Most Republicans here don’t actually believe anything substantial and are just nationalists. Ireland is one of the most nationalist countries I’ve ever been to, it’s just
A) hidden under oh it’s nice smol bean liberal IRISH nationalism, Not evil American nationalism they’re totally different!
B) most people here consider their liberal ethnonstionalism a good thing because they view Irish people still as a persecuted minority in the year 2025. The Irish do still have a persecution complex and it leads to them doing shit like attacking immigrants while 100% they are the smol bean

No
The entire Irish national identity is based upon being a victim and smol bean that can never do anything wrong.
It’s enforced by social norms and the government so the state can continue being a tax haven and shipping American bombs to Israel.
It’s also largely the result the Irish revolution, even from a liberal perspective was a failure. This country has no fucking culture, so the only way people can be uniquely Irish is by strong nationalism. Nobody speaks the language or anything and is super britishized or Americanized depending on how old they are.
If there wasn’t the strong sense of nationalism than there would literally be nothing culturally different between the average Dublin zoomer and American one. Dublin zoomers and especially gen alpha literally have American accents now.

The working class to admit their culture was killed by British imperialism years ago and go focus on class but literally every force in the country focuses on the opposite and makes sure people don’t do that so I’m not optimistic at class consciousness
Well, it’ll seem hopeless until it suddenly isn’t, but I’m sure you know that already. The institutions upholding this nonsense will eventually fall under their own weight, but who knows when.
I was also curious about your point about Gen Alpha having “American accents”, because it reminded me of something I heard about Australia. Would you like to expand on that situation and what you think of it? Because for as much dialect leveling as media imports and the capitalist Internet have been responsible for… These are still just little kids you’re talking about, most of them surely younger than 10, and I doubt that American accents really have that much prestige in Ireland that kids will hold onto them into adulthood.
My girlfriend is 20 and doesn’t have a traditional Irish accent. Her accent is extremely Americanized. Most of my friends are Irish and only two of them don’t have extremely Americanized accents. They’re all 20-30.
