The tacit understanding here being that the funding and feelings of the police is more valuable than the lives of senior citizens.

Of all the possible politicians that would allow guillotines in Central Park, Mamdani is our best bet. Just hope he actually fucks up NYPD and makes it easier to organize in the meantime. He’s not an end goal. I don’t even think he thinks that.

He literally walked most of his “endearing” rhetoric. Including defunding- which he doesnt want to do, he wants to stop expanding the NYPD, so basically eternal status quo at best.

Besides he is going to move right very quickly, given that there is no counterpol forcing him to the left, in fact most of the entryist enjoyers spend more time getting socialists in non-american countries and even outside NYC to shut up and uncritically support him, which unironically actually harms the very strategy they try to convince us will led to socialism.

stopping expansion is a very technocratic way of cutting their budget over time because inflation will continue to happen. Remember he needs to not be murdered if he wants to do any of the public transit improvements, rent freezes, or at-cost grocery stores.

this is not a defense of his backpedaling on the nypd or isntrael, but also he wasn’t ever campaigning on decimating the nypd budget or anything but rather on limiting their scope to the liberal mythology of police are for and using the new funding that isn’t going to the cops to fund ostensibly good things like social workers.

He discredited it with the Soviets. We don’t have any Soviets. They also allied with the mensheviks/social Democrats during the first revolution. We haven’t even had a minor rebellion yet, you ally with whoever you need to and just don’t allow them to maintain a grip on power after a revolution, something that was accomplished by bringing the Soviets on side.

American leftists are so reactionary that they somehow think it’s easier to force an old established institution dedicated to absorbing revolutionary energy into becoming revolutionary, than actually creating the revolutionary party.

It also reveals how little regard they have for the people that suffered & die or will suffer & die for their little stunt with blue maga.

wait why do you think he’s out to change the institution of the democratic party and not simply trying to do some good things as the mayor? one of those things is dumb as hell, the other is perfectly reasonable and there are structural reasons to seek the dem nomination rather than trying to do it as an independent.

Agreed. People kinda forgot that Kautsky, despite his disastrous influence on western socialism, himself still wanted actually communism in the end and not idk hiring freeze on hiring pigs or just defensive weapons to the genocidal state. Modern day DSA would have never demanded an 8-hour workday or, they would have advocated for being “good” not “perfect” and asked for a 11.5-hour workday which only applies for those employed for 10+ years.
