      When Baudrillard wrote Simulacra and Simulation, the best example he had of Level 4 was Disney World. He had no idea that that was just the US getting warmed up.

      I honestly don’t understand how fictional media can exist anymore in the western context. How do you create something unbelievable in the world we live in anymore. It feels like we’ll have to just turn all media into slice of life because the only real fantasy is to live in a world where nothing happens

        I think it’s why everything is capeshit now. In order to make something fictional in a modern setting there needs to be magic or superpowers or something to make it clear that it isn’t real.

        It actually makes fictional media easier to make right? Things are normal and work the way they should except this one weird thing. That’s high fantasy now.
