The show is good. My wife started watching it and eventually I got roped in. I generally have overactive empathy and wince at avoidable interpersonal conflict on screen but the show is good. There are issues other than comedy in there
In addition to what Fed said, her character plays a younger writer that’s pansexual, class-conscious, anti-racist, feminist, and so on. The character has her flaws, however, as she can be self-righteous and talks over minorities. Meanwhile, as she finds success, her class interests begin to shift and she’s caught between wanting a better life/career and staying true to her values/not selling out.
Her boss is a washed-up comedian who was popular in the 70s and 80s, but has since resigned herself to her stand-up show each night in Vegas. She’s still filthy rich, but she finds herself becoming increasingly more irrelevant as her audience dwindles.
So after this young writer gets fired from her job for making an insensitive tweet (IIRC it was something similar to what’s happening now with Charlie Kirk lmao), the agent representing the two makes them work alongside each other. The generational and class divide initially makes them want to give up working together, but they realize they’re the same person in different bodies.
Its a fun show man, even just watching the first series isnt a bad time investment compared to most shows. But im a fella who has watched all of righteous gemstones multiple times so take that advice for what its worth.
I’d say it’s largely about the polarization between “successful” comedians/entertainers and the more “working class” writers who actually drive their success at the expense of their own lives. But otherwise, basically Devil Wears Prada but about comedy

This actually sounds like a great premise, especially seeing all the comedians going through similar issues lately.
