It reminds me of the stories i’ve read about the post-war nazi hunting that drags through the years. really makes me ponder the question of rehabilitative vs retributive justice in those aspects.
I do not believe that they wouldn’t do it again. Nor that their continued existence isn’t contributing to the build up that would eventually unleash their ideology again. I do not see it as retributive, but as self-defence.
You’re absolutely right about it evoking feelings about those nazis that go into hiding. But I also think it can just be other people in general. How much do you truly know someone? We do not all share our pasts.
