He is the obviously the anointed favourite by the Dem establishment, but this shit just seems like it wouldn’t appeal to the general public. But I don’t know if that is “they go low, we go high” brainworms. They already have the blue no matter who crowd locked down, who is this meant to appeal to outside of the demo?

It’s tough man. We are continuously in a bind with all this. And I guess it’s by design.

I wouldn’t call myself “blue no matter who,” and I won’t be voting for Newsom in the primary certainly, but knowing that he’ll win the primary (by hook or by crook), that gives us a conundrum. I am in the “anybody but Trump and MAGA” camp, and I do regard Newsom as the far lesser evil here.

I mean, look, Kamala wasn’t a great candidate, but things would be objectively better right now (not great probably, but definitely better) if she’d have won the election. I’d much rather be complaining about her at the moment.

On the other hand, it’s also true that Democrats will only stop moving to the right once they stop winning elections, and we continually supporting bad candidates in order to prevent the worse ones from popping up doesn’t help pull them to the left.

Honestly I don’t know what else to do, rather than pulling the lever for President Newsom, if we even still have elections by then.
