Excuse me, but as a Texan living about an hour and a half from those floods and having attended summer camp about half an hour away, I’d like to know more about your dog. Can you share a good boy story?
Absolutely! I was visiting the parents one day and I knew they were having a hard time with the family business. As soon as he started wrecking havoc in their backyard, my parents were beaming from cheek to cheek. Being adults, it’s harder for my brother and me to give that kind of joy to our parents. We’re far from grandchildren so Rex gives him so much pleasure and happiness.
My parents were not animal people growing up. My mom’s dad was a farm owner so she was used to animals a little (grew up away from the farms), but she never expressed interest in owning or having pets.
Fast forward, I graduate from college and parents go to India for a few months (they are retired and live there 1/4 of the year). Get dog. Train dog. Parents return.
First thing dad does is walk Rex once he gets home from his 22 hour plus layover flight.
They love this dog so much. They never knew Rex would enter their lives, but he’s made it so much better. I’m so glad I got Rex sneakily and without asking. I now live on my own with my brother and Rex. My parents are getting older and can’t walk a strong boy like Rex but they melt every time we visit. Visiting them without Rex is not an option. They now have 3 boys. Me, my brother, and Rex. ❤️❤️❤️
I hope that suffices for a good “dad didn’t want dog but now loves dog” story!
My dog ate breakfast at a reasonable time this morning. This is notable because he ate yesterday’s breakfast at 3am this morning.
(Old dog, forgets to eat. Sometimes I have to jump-start his appetite by literally spoon feeding him, then he’ll finish the rest of his super-smelly wet food himself)
In more important news, my dog took two shits today. Unusual because he usually poops once a day. He’s a good boy.
