        They’re definitely the biggest reason, but as a subset of that is just how public it is in a way that most other paraphilia isn’t (And insofar as it is, it’s not as recognisable). Like the sheer brazenness of the foot stuff in Joss Whedon shows or Tarantino films is actually kind of insane.

      I think it’s a bad rep, because people (ofc especially women) would like to have at least some body parts that aren’t immediately sexualized, but now you even have to think about the beach pic of your feet in the sand.

      Bare feet are seen as very innocuous… Until the feet people show up, are horny on main, put them in a wiki, give them a rating and catalogue all the feet pics.

      In bed it definitely falls for me under the “if it brings you joy, we’ll find a way” category.

        I think this fact is interwoven with the fact that it’s also the most “niche” fetish you can know about at like 5 drinks deep at the office christmas party without being labeled the office pervert instantly for your knowledge about it existing, irregardless of whether it is your thing at all. It’s sort of common knowledge enough that people might chime in to validate you are not the sex freak for knowing this, but not mainstreamed enough like BDSM after 50 Shades that you can do naughty jokes about it

      My problem with it is that they shove their fetish into absolutely fucking everything and it’s in my face via some medium practically every single fucking day. I do not consent to being exposed to your kink.

      It’s become so normalised to just include it in fucking everything and I don’t like that at all. Even artists that aren’t foot fetishists will do it just as like a fanservice to them and because it’s easy reshares etc. Even fucking BRANDS like Overwatch have used it for social media shit.
