I went 2-1-0 with blue delver in a tournament in one of my city’s bar. We were 22 players, which was a bigger tournout than expected, and a nice surprise 🥳 Decklist is here.

ROUND 1 : mono white hare apparent, 2-1 My oppo was playing a brew, 20 hares 20 lands and an assortement of blink spells, mass pump spells, thraben charms and Leonardos. The one loss was from the match where I could not counter the first rabbit, which means I could not stop the deck from snowballing. Also I got my delver mana tithe’d on turn 1, and it hurt 🥲

ROUND 2 : blue white familiar, 2-0 Oppo was playing the foil version of the deck, and it seems like it was too slow against my deck. I got two flipped delvers with dispel backup on turn 3 in the second round, and that was enough pressure to just play counterspells until I won.

ROUND 3 : mono red madness, 1-2 This one was against a friend that I introduced to the game a few years ago, we were both 2-0, the stakes could not have been higher 😁 I lost the pre side match, then won the second one, and lost the third. I think my mistake was blasting the wrong spell, on turn 4 I had a serpent on board, oppo had only two lands, I blasted their plotted highway robbery to keep them from finding a third land, but then they blasted my serpent and I could not find any other threat 😵 I probably sideboarded wrong too, the mystics I brought in felt too slow for the matchup.

It was a great night, I am glad that there is an active pauper community in my city 🥳

Shoutout to the hare guy playing a random brew in a tournament! (even if not that high stakes) Sounds like a funny deck.

I’m currently playing a 7 week league (already missed 1 game due to work) and then top8, I do exclusively play my own brews. I have exactly 6 decks so I’ll be able to go a new deck every week 😀

Probably should post in this sub, kinda forgot it existed until now.

yeah it seemed fun to play ! after the match we talked a little about adding a color for [[Keep Watch]] or [[Winding Ways]], or adding some ramp to enable playing two hares on turn 3

    Nice!

I’m thinking about making some Tolarian Winds brew based on monoU terror. I know it’s a bad idea but somehow I can’t stop thinking about that card. It immediately brings discarded snackers back to play.

ooh interesting idea 👀 you could probably add some madness cards, or the flashback draw spell from the hobbit to refill your hand after the winds ?

Got something like this. Found a Flux card that also matches this strategy - with the downside it also allows the opponent to do the same. Maybe 3 mana is too much but on the other hand it allows to drop everything your don’t need and keep everything your need - which is serious upside as you can keep the sneks.

          Artful dodge my beloved ❤️

Yeah I goldfished the list a few time and discarding snakes hurt. Brainstorm can help, but I don’t know of any other pauper card that lets you put something from your hand back into your library 🤔

Searching Scryfall I found a few creatures that get stronger when you discard cards, like [[Cunning Survivor]], but they would change the plan from “Winds into Snake” to “Setup into one big Winds turn”, maybe that’s not the vision you have for the deck 😅

The cards I’ve cut from normal monoU terror also unconditionally discard snakes - mental notes randomly destroy bits of your deck you don’t see. So given that only x4 card do that now, the only difference with original must be speed at which you can fill the GY with spells.

That’s why I’ve put x4 hard removal and I would put more if I could as Flux being a sorcery gives less chance for reactive gameplay. But it’s not like blue have more valid sorcery/instant removals. Auras - yes. So counterspells is the next best.

I don’t really like the madness in blue that much. It requires at least 3 mana to combo it, to gain what, +1 card / counterspell.

Flashbacks yeah, either that or Deep Analysis. Sorcery vs Instant, but costs less.

Yeah it still feels to be light on synergies, even if most of monoU shell can be reused. Need to dig through more cards, maybe I’ll find something.
