I’ve decided to make a new rule: no posting negative news articles without a call to action or way to help. Many online queer communities (and ESPECIALLY trans, considering what’s been happening globally) are full of these articles. I get staying informed, and it’s important to an extent, but it also tanks our mental health to be constantly bombarded by them without any way to make things better.

There’s a place for those articles, but it’s not gonna be here.

Is this fair?

Sounds like a good idea. There’s plenty communities that are very good sources of high quality doomposting, easily available from blahaj>Local.

This community can very much be a place of safety, I think.

A safe, educational, and supportive place for trans people is my vision for this community. Figured I wasn’t the only one who was affected negatively by doomposting being everywhere.

I’m pro this rule. I eventually quit reading a lot of the trans subreddits because of the constant doomposting.

I did the same out of concern for my mental health. It’s unfortunate because online trans spaces are an invaluable way to share resources and support each other even if isolated IRL. Hope this community can be of help.

I think it’s a good idea, and there may not always be immediately available solutions to all situations. When there is, great let’s have it so we can get active. Hmm, and I guess, if one is in or is trying to bring attention to a situation that needs to change, that posting is a way of finding community support, and solutions.

I struggled with it a lot and figured I wasn’t the only trans person to. It’s a form of self harm if done in excess and it’s ridiculously easy to get sucked down that vortex and worsen depression and anxiety. We gotta look out for each other 💪

Blahaj.zone admin here. You have had exactly zero interaction with this community or any other gender diverse community on lemmy in the 6 months you’ve had your account, and your first interaction with such a community was to passively aggressively come at someone trying to establish a new community.

If you want to offer advice to a brand new mod trying to get a new community off of the ground, you’re welcome to do so, but that isn’t how you do it.

I see this all the time on discord and the silly is why I come here, thanks. Happy to see those articles in my subscription feed in another community.

Edit: oh this is trans not 196. Same thing, right? Still a good rule.

And that gets me to subscribe. Doesn’t prevent access to such news, but tries to keep the community positive instead of entering spirals
