It really does and I keep wondering if people were always this dumb and I just never noticed, or if they really have become dumber. I do think Covid made a lot of people lose their minds though and we’ve just never recovered
I’ve noticed my mom’s cognitive function has gotten worse since she got covid. She can’t follow conversations as easily, she forgets things (a few days ago she left the stove on), and she’s paranoid the neighbors have bugged our house. She’s never been a very clever person, but yeah it’s worse. Granted, my grandmother had early onset dementia and my grandfather died of something brain related (cancer? Aneurysm? I don’t remember) but I’m hoping those aren’t it.

Social media and engagement-based algorithms have also turbocharged the spread of misnformation.

The difference is that social media and the internet has connected us to all the dummies
