What do thousands of pages of newly released material reveal about the well-documented relationship between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump?
Not much of anything, according to some of the right-wing influencers who have long been clamoring for the government to release more information about Epstein and his crimes.
“To me, these are nothingburgers. If they’re even real,” pro-Trump podcaster Jon Herold said on his Badlands Media Rumble livestream on Wednesday. Herold gained an audience in the wake of the 2020 election after spreading QAnon-adjacent conspiracy theories.
For MAGA, it’s not about Trump, it’s about the things he is supposed to do for them. Proving Trump is bad will accomplish nothing, that’s already been done. You have to either prove he is not going to do the thing they want, or show that he is so overwhelmingly grotesque it still isn’t worth it to support him. The former strategy is hampered by the right wing misinformation bubble, and the latter is not a realistic strategy for a population mostly indifferent to decency.
Nicely worded.
Because everyone knows what’s in the files and it didn’t change anything then, and it doesn’t change anything now.
To be honest, I had no idea Trump was blowing Bubba and Putin has pictures
Yeah, that one was actually a surprise.
What was a surprise is not knowing if it was bill or a horse.
I have only read a few emails, but is there no chance they’re just being evil and crass and making jokes? I have no doubt Trump is guilty of heinous crimes, but like, surely they’re joking about him blowing the horse?? I guess nothing is off the table at this point, but still
It’s almost like you need to actually fight these people rather than assume they’ll come around if you just show them how wrong they are.
I’m increasingly of the opinion it’s cultural narcissism. Look into DARVO - Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender - and you’ll see the majority of responses from these talking heads, including the shitty Garfield cosplayer currently in office.
How perfect.
This is a great example of how it is that the right is always wrong, but always has followers anyway. It’s because they live in a doggedly self-affirming fantasy world in which they blithely believe unsupported nonsense like QAnon while just as blithely disregarding simple fact like the Epstein files, all based not on evidence or logic, but just based on whether or not it fits their preconceptions.
It’s a perfect little delusional universe where they’re free to be told whatever they want to believe and ignore whatever they don’t want to believe.
I mean what exactly is the news? Known rapist had rapist friends?
Maybe people are starting to care about actual policy.
