Optimism waves are difficult to handle when people are struggling, specially when left without an outlet to channel that frustration into something that would advance their own lives being better.

I think of how difficult it is for myself to stay positive when the local orgs I’ve reached out to have no use of me and all I can really do is write letters to people or something like that, in order to agitate them and make them think a little hopefully, through a one person operation.

I get it. Am a teacher in a deeply red area. Trust me, I feel the frustation of having no organizing outlet. But it just feels like doomerism to scold people for having any hope.

I think you’re right. Educating people on the flaws on electoral politics is one thing, but being outright mean to them is hinging on being reactionary.
