Have you heard the story about the libertarians and the bears? It’s a story that… this website would probably love. Chuds don’t want to pay taxes for municipal services or pay directly for proper trash disposal, which results in bears causing problems for the chuds (and some innocent townspeople who didn’t want a “libertarian experiment”).

I feel bad for the people who lived there first, their town got destroyed by these buffoons. They disbanded the fire department, and all the roads fell into extreme disrepair
Yeah, I haven’t actually read the book, but I have heard the story. Been keeping an eye out for the book, though. Don’t want a proper source on this badly enough to order a book brand new online, would pick it up used if it turns up at my city’s annual charity booksale to support child literacy (probably my favourite thing about this place, if I’m going to buy books used anyway, might as well do a majority of my book shopping once a year and have most of that money I’m spending go to a good cause) or a second hand book shop or general charity shop.
I do feel really bad for the ordinary people who were living there first and wanted nothing to do with the libertarians.
I hear stories like this of political extremists getting together to overwhelm an extremely small town, and I’m like, hey, if leftists weren’t so fractious and disorganized on Turtle Island, maybe we could do the same, and at least our policy aims wouldn’t screw over the existing townsfolk, but if we ever did such a thing, the feds would be on it in a week flat.

That basically happened in reverse where I live. It was a big issue in the last city council elections.
