the Iranian military attacked a crowd of protesters, killing ~88 and injuring between 205-8,000. The violence increased the unrest, leading to a general strike and the Shah fleeing the country in January 1979.
The massacre, known as Black Friday, began when thousands of protesters gathered in Tehran’s Jaleh Square for a religious demonstration, unaware that the government had declared martial law a day earlier due to widespread political unrest.
Some sources estimate that 4,000 people were shot down by tanks, guns, and military helicopters. The deaths were described as the pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution that ended any “hope for compromise” between the protest movement and regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
The massacre led to widespread protests, and a general strike in October shut down the petroleum industry that was essential to the administration’s survival. The Shah fled Iran in January 1979, clearing the way for the Iranian Revolution, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

We have a semi regular customer at work who is a shitty parent with a shitty kid. We saw him grow up from a shitty toddler to shitty kid. Just a rude entitled piece of shit. Comes up to the kitchen a demandingly asks each time we start a pizza if its his. We dont know and also, shut up. Most kids who come up to watch rule, they’re hyped to see us toss dough and mess with a crazy hot oven with fire. This kid just…sucks. Tonight he came up to the window and was about to put his grubby little child mitts on the food waiting to go out. He should be absolutely nowhere near there and thank fucking God one of the wait staff caught it the same time I did because this kid was about to hear it from a tired line cook. This kid is coming up and trying to violate health codes. Technically Im supposed to remake all of that stuff cause his hands were above the food. He was very firmly told to go back to his seat and to stay there. His mom didn’t do shit cause she clearly sees us as babysitters. This is absolutely not acceptable and next time they come in they will be told their child has to stay seated unless accompanied by an adult and if they fuck around again they’re banned. Owner was there tonight and agrees.
this rules entitled customers of all ages are the fucking worst
This kid is violating the health code. We cant have that.
Nope it’s no good folks get him outta here
It’s fucking fine dining too. Absolutely not the environment, not that its ever okay. But the vibe clearly states it really isn’t. Jobs suck, but I dont genuinely give a shit about our food, I want people to eat good if they’re dropping an okay amount of money, we’re.like the lowest level of fine dining so it could be the one nice meal a family has that year for all I know usually. That and making the food good is fun. I was ready to really lay into this kid, so its good someome caught the incident who used to substitute at an elementary school.
