I asked the native speaker I know and she said 放水 is a better match for intentionally letting the other side win, I don’t think there’s a very good way to translate it though she was having trouble with the concept. Might have to ask a fluent I got the impression that 放水 was more of a friendly letting someone else win than feeding or trolling from how she was explaining it
