Yeah this is the main struggle I have with TikTok. I have a few creators that I tend to always watch but almost never see. Sometimes I’ll go search them just to make sure they are still active.
I also find it odd how the alg sort of gets stuck in themes. At one point I get Amazon Driver TikTok all day, then I’ll get Deathcore for like 3 hours, followed by either socialist creators or lib/chud ragebait for a day. I sort of just want a mix of what I like. Which to be fair, TikTok is at least better at that the any of the Meta apps.
One reason I tried to avoid it was because of the way it brainrot algs your feed. My ex and my bff both tried to get me to use it for a long time and they finall did. I sort of regret it but also the alg does try sometimes to show you your interests. It’s shit a lot too.
The appeal of the app is the ease of making videos, the infinite storage, the filters and other features and most importantly, the best video recommendation algorithm that it has ever been created. There is a joke that goes along the lines of “TikTok knew that I was queer before I knew it myself”
I struggle to understand the appeal of this app.
I like this person’s work but the machine does not deign to show it to me much oh well

This is still something I don’t understand at all. I see people using TikTok a lot, and it’s kinda spooky how they just get sucked into it.

I can’t do the short form stuff, I’ll sometimes watch cat or cooking shorts on YouTube. I prefer ridiculously long form content lol
I actually get that. The 15 second videos that have 462 jump cuts stitched together drive me insane.
