If you’re new to Umamusume Pretty Derby, the game might feel a bit overwhelming at first. It’s not your typical mobile game—Umamusume blends character development, training strategy, and horse racing into one deep simulation.
It’s an anime gacha girl racing game? That a lot
Would not have thought the venn diagram of weeb and horsegirl covered enough people to fund a game like this, but the more I think about it the more this makes total sense
Unfortunately a lot of their money comes from adult men who already gamble on real horse racing (at least that’s what I’ve heard)
It really makes a lot more sense if you consider that a lot of anime fans are AFAB. “Weeb” feels like a very gendered word to me, but is there really such a big difference between male and female anime fans?
I havent done a linguistic survey I admit, but at least in my experience ‘weeb’ is a gender neutral term and the anime fandomis at most slightly skewed towards male fans (fascinating article btw). In short yeah there are differences between the genders, but they mostly differ between media targeted at one gender or another (Military Drama vs. Gay Vampire Romance, for example. Stereotypes go brrrr.)
It also has rougelite elements and stuff. Pretty good, the gatcha elements are not too bad so far, but I’ll have to see how bad stuff will get, cough-cough Infinity Nikki, cough-cough Blacklight Retribution, cough-cough countless other live services.
But does it not have MTX?
What’s an MTX?
Micro TransaXtion
I think I’ve seen one gacha without mtx. Though I haven’t exactly been looking
