That works so excellently for the military. You’re technically able to be called back in at any time, but you’re also allowed to drink when you could reasonably expect to have that time off.

And the clincher; you’re not allowed to be drunk on duty, so they can’t even say “no worries, I’ll pick you up” without implicating whoever ordered you in

She’s probably American and talking about America. We shouldn’t have to qualify every single thing we say, if it doesn’t apply to you then it doesn’t apply. It’s certainly worthwhile to the discussion to add your own experiences in places it doesn’t apply, but just pointing out that she didn’t explicitly say she’s talking about America (even though she very nearly did) isn’t super relevant.

  • Yeah, sometimes it’s just a bad vibe or something they might think is silly but they can’t ignore their instincts. So a woman may tell you it’s something like your phone or the restaurant was too cheap, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s true.

I’ve found there’s a big subset of people, myself included when I don’t watch for it, who can’t help but try to pick apart the reasoning behind “No” if you give them a full explanation.

Explaining your thought process on why you are declining gives them the tools to try to change your mind, to explain to you why your answer was wrong.

If you just want to wash your hands of situation, saying no with little to no explanation stops them from trying to salvage it, to convince you otherwise. I feel like giving a stupid bullshit explanation like “you have an android” may be the same idea.

  • I tried that, we got a few auto feeders for a trip. Worked for those few days, but when we decided to stick with them, two of the cats eventually figured out how to manually dispense. I taped over the manual button, so they learned how to dig their paws in and around the inside to push the food out.

Problem there is that they were taking from the next batch that was set to dispense. The meal time would come and nothing would come out because they already ate it. They’d get mad and knock it them over, so they’d starve if I didn’t intervene.

    Yeah they’re little dickheads.

I’m sure there’s more robust auto feeders but I can only learn that after my cats have had a few weeks to fuck around with them 😂
