Is your wife thinking about conquering her fears?
Tl;dr : I conquered my fears but it took the help of a therapist and psychiatrist.
I had severe anxiety of driving.
I really wanted to drive. Even though I had the license to drive, even though I knew for a fact i could drive, even though I really really wanted to drive, my nervous system would go into fight or flight mode once I started even thinking about driving. so I asked my mental health professionals about it.
I got beta blockers to slow my heart down and then I started desensitizing.
I can drive now.
What I think is that because they are incapable of empathetic thought, the message gets lost.
TNG’s Time’s Arrow, DS9’s Past Tense, VOY’s Life Line are all just made up stories to them. No human condition there.
TNG: Time’s Arrow part 1 & 2
DS9: Past Tense part 1 & 2
VOY: Distant Origins, The Haunting of Deck 12, Resolutions, Coda, everything JC :P
ENT: Twilight, Carbon Creek
Trouble with Edward (short trek)
PIC: Absolute Candor, Season 3
SNW: Spock Amok, Those Old Scientists
PRO: Time Amok, The World’s a Stage, Supernova part 1 & 2
I’m reiterating, watch SNW!
you’re missing out. I’m a 90s trek girl however SNW has the right amount of cheese for it to be really great and easier to watch than TOS
Strange New Worlds is a great starting point. SNW is set in the 5 year mission before Kirk’s 5 year mission on the enterprise. There are some arcs that you might not get but it’s not necessary to know what the episode is about because it is episodic. I watched the corresponding TOS / Discovery episodes with Captain Pike after I watched the SNW episodes to fill in the parts that I really didn’t get but here is a list of the episodes I watched.
The Menagerie Part 1 and 2 (TOS) -> Through the Valley of Shadows (DIS) -> A quality of Mercy (SNW) -> Balance of Terror (TOS)
Picard season 3 is an absolute must if you watched next gen / DS9. For the whole season to make sense you’ll probably want to watch the last 2 seasons of DS9. If you watch the last 2 episodes of picard season 3, watch TNG’s best of both worlds part 1 & 2, All good things… (the series finale), and Voyager’s Endgame (the series finale) it’ll make more sense.
the last 2 seasons of DS9 is very political and heavy but many people say it’s the best trek - however now SNW is getting close to taking the title.
I think the whole thing is that your instance can defederate so even if there were things like that existing you wouldn’t see it. There are plenty of instances that’s not federated with lemmy.ml i believe.
Yea, that’s what I thought too so I wanted to watch my faves a few more times before it’s gone. I logged on and it’s not there. I went through my recent, searched prodigy and Star Trek. Nothing
ETA: just checked. It is 1210 PST. It is gone
I wanted to watch supernova again, my husband and I watched the “ghost in the machine” last night. We were too tired to watch others. This morning it’s gone.
I am so fucking pissed right now.
It’s gone now as of 1030 am PST 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I love voyager the most because the crew became a family.
When it comes to family we tend to make different decisions when it’s about making sure they are safe and cared for. imo that’s what made capt janeway different from picard or sisko. People tend to push her as being irrational but being a parent, that happens. I think that’s why i loved picard, and i love season 3 more than any episode of TNG.
And obviously the situation they were in was completely different. I totally agree with you about the budget. It is all about the money in the end for all things. They had a planet of the week sound stage to save money. Makes sense. Even the new shows have a budget.
I waited in line at the fountain valley fry’s.
43 here lol
