  • If I cannot fall asleep in 30 minutes or so, I “give up” and go lay on sofa and watch something low intesity from youtube (restoration channels are great for this. This removes most pressure to fall asleep, which often is enough to make it possible to fall asleep quicklyish. And if not, at least watching videos is more interesting that lying in dark room.

Note that you should either wear blue-light blocking glasses (not those barely tinted “computer glasses”, but those that are meant for blocking lasers), or use some software solution, in order to not disturb melatonin production. It’s a good idea to start doing this at least an hour before going to bed in order to allow melatonin to build-up.

Source: partner suffers from severe sleeping problems, and they have researched falling asleep extensively.

  • Naah, we jboth ust want a eye comfort mode THAT ACTUALLY REMOVES ALL OF THE BLUE LIGHT! WHAT IS THE POINT OF “eye comfort” THAT MAKES THE SCREEN SLIGHTLY ORANGE TINTED ON A DEVICE THAT IS GENERALLY USED JUST BEFORE BED??! Just let me make my screen devoid of all blue colours if I so want, EVEN FUCKING WINDOWS CAN DO IT OUT OF THE BOX!

    Rant over, sorry

  • I’m not so sure which one would have larger impact, do you happen to have any info about that? Of course the best option would be if both of these happened.

What I’m trying to get to, is that just because our own impact is small, it isn’t a reason to do nothing. There is no need to feel existencial threat from eating a steak or flying, but it’s best to remember that every little thing helps.

There is also the social effect: the more people make climate conscious decisions, the easier it becomes for others to make those same decisions! We are scial creatures after all.

Also vegan diet is generally cheaper, as long as you don’t eat only things like fake meat. After all, lentils and beans are much cheaper than meat.
