God, if India became a socialist super power it would be so joever
Have to give the radlibs credit for once
Now that I’ve read Losurdo’s Western Marxism, he definitely fits in with the intellectuals that Losurdo criticizes. Shame, because I found his analysis insightful at times
Honestly what is the alternative? We should let them get away with breaking the law? Yanis Varoufakis also had a similar take. While I agree making these people accountable does nothing to stop fascism, I don’t understand how this is a bad thing.
Maybe it’s just the wrong framing? Like you’re not going to stop fascism by just prosecuting the fascists, but I do think it’s a start. However I am confident that this will be the limit of how far they go and they will continue pushing neoliberal policies until their population is fed up. If there were an organized left this would be a prime opportunity.
If they let her get away with doing illegal shit, then i’d think that what she’s doing actually isnt illegal. I think banning her would scare more normies from supporting her, as they would think she actually did something bad. I could be wrong, cause I don’t live in France and don’t have a good pulse on the people there.
I think to the average person it looked like Trump was unfairly persecuted because he never actually faced any consequences. And I consider the “average person” as someone that doesn’t follow politics
It will be used against leftists regardless. I hate that argument that “we can’t repress the right because they might do it back to us” when historically the right has always been repressive of the left
I agree that it wont stop fascism. At least holding her accountable makes it seem like she actually is a fascist, unlike the Dems crying that Trump is a fascist but also being super soft on him. So I think this is a good thing, even though its clearly not enough. My expectation is there will be another far right figure that will take her place if she can’t run.
but I would rather not celebrate too loudly if I celebrated along with pro NATO eurolibs,
they would be delusional to think that fascism is defeated for good just because LePen is barred from running
The eyeliner goes hard though
Huh that’s interesting cause I remember the syria flag changing almost right after the government collapsed. Didn’t realize Afghanistan also had a flag change, which makes sense. Guess this is good confirmation to normies how inauthentic the overthrow of Assad was.
What’s up with Yanis? He’s been having the weirdest takes on the LePen conviction
When Turkey’s courts ban Erdogan’s frontrunning Presidential opponent, the liberal mind rebels and rejects forthwith Erdogan’s argument that the law is the law. When France’s courts do they same, the liberal mind rejoices & parrots the law is the law. Mind-boggling hypocrisy!

And
Varoufakis stressed that “I think Le Pen is a fascist, personally. I’d like to see her be destroyed politically.” At the same time, in his view, lawfare “has been disproportionately waged against the outer Right, because the Left has disappeared”. The Greek politician compared Le Pen’s treatment to the means used by the Democratic Party against Donald Trump, only “the French are doing it in a more obvious, less defensible way than the American Democrats.”

Thinking that what the dems did wrong was not go hard enough on Trump seems laughable. They demonized him but also let him get away with doing a bunch of illegal shit. Is the lesson there not to demonize him? When has a fascist ever been defeated “politically”? He’s saying it would somehow be better for the “left” in France if they let LePen get away with embezzlement.
I think it’s the unpredictability which probably scares countries away more than the tariffs themselves
I’m also not sure if he genuinely believes that US can build their own domestic industry if countries start trading less with them. There’s no way, but he acts as if that is the plan.
Surprised Yanis has this opinion

Lol @ destroying her politically, as if that would ever work.
He also took away the wrong lesson for how the Dems treated Trump, as if they were too hard on him. LePen’s treatement is actually quite the opposite of the way the Dems treated Trump. Does he really think if the Dems attacked Trump less that they could’ve won? Usually his analysis is pretty decent, but I struggle to see his logic here.
Do it
This is white cope
The worrying part is what a declining empire will do as it inevitably falls
Canada and EU economies are also going down the drain. These countries will not be a safe haven for scientists until they understand the link between capitalism and fascism and reverse course.
It’s also telling of the affect of propaganda that they aren’t considering China, though tbf I’d imagine it’s pretty hard for a skilled foreigner to get a job of their field in China.
Conveniently we now have LLM’s that non-technical capitalists (all capitalist owners pretty much) think can replace scientists
This sounds really bad
What do you mean they dont care about norms??
