Ds9 is peak, Voyager is watered down tng with a great premise it never ever gets to use. Ds9 got to be good kinda because voyager sucked, ds9 was syndicated and either had tng or voy running at the same time, voyager was the flagship show for UPN so all the producers and whatever payed all the attention to voyager and interphered with it ever being good which let ds9 become amazing cause they were getting less attention and oversight. It sucked for them at the time but who’s laughing now?

Both ENT and VOY could have been really good so easily. I don’t get how they fucked up such strong concepts. I know how they did, but it’s such a big fuck up. There’s an unreleased book by Micheal Pillar about his experience writing and working on Insurrection, clearly wasn’t published cause he said too much about too.many famous people. But he’s not innocent in this either, in fact he kinda started it, after Roddenberry died a lot of trek overcorrexred for his weird shit in early tng and got real libertarian

Voyager really sucks. Episode for episode it’s often serviceable but there comes a time seven seasons in when you realize that none of its characters developed in any way since they were introduced in the pilot and that you basically know nothing about them. The whole militaristic bent certainly also gets worse and worse and that they played the entirety of seven of nine’s plot as being about her being deprogrammed and not as a meeting of two species that previously had no way of communicating is a fucking travesty.
