Like that would probably MESS people up more.

“Oh my got that clown just went into the children’s hospital and DIDN’T blow it up, he just blew up some balloon animals for the kids! Wtf is going on? Do we actually NOT live in a society?”

I actually wrote a short story back in college where a traveling circus comes to town during a spate of mysterious deaths

Everybody thinks it’s the clowns, but nope, they’re actually vampire hunters

The Fraternity of Fools, for you’d have to be a fool to think you could hunt the undead

Wish I had backed up my stuff better back then

Lot of good ideas lost because my hard drive decided to eat shit and die

now i want a reverse clown horror movie where a troupe of clowns in a closed off fairground at night die one by one trying to fend off some random guy with a knife by doing crazy circus tricks

if the name wasn’t taken already it’d be called The Last Laugh or something, there’d be like a scene near the end of the movie where the final clown finds a clown car stuffed with bodies and they like honk the clown horn to pay respect for the dead before lacing up a pair of really big shoes and angrily walking over to the flaming ring in the middle of the big top with a pie in each hand and there’d be like a cool over-the shoulder shot where it shows the killer looking at the clown through the ring of fire while a cinematic version of Entry of the Gladiators starts playing as they start to run at each other, each step from the clown making an exaggerated squeaking sound

I find it weird that before John Wayne Gacy, people who were afraid of clowns were a statistical anomaly, like people who are afraid of mimes. Then King wrote IT, and the entire industry never recovered. You talk to old people and they’re like “oh yeah all children love clowns, it was a fun way to advertise asbestos and/or cigarettes to children”. Things that predate John Wayne Gacy like Bozo the Clown, Ronald McDonald or whatever the Jack in the Box clown is meant to be are played straight and completely benign.

i remember watching some short documentary about professional clowns who had issues finding gigs cause of this, and were talking about being afraid of being assault, i feel really bad for them - especially since they are people who genuinely do try to bring some joy in the world

  • It makes me feel hella old but our community had a clown who pretty much had all of the children’s gigs on lock. I remember her being very impressive with balloon animals and having a pet skunk. She’s undoubtedly the reason I have a positive association with clowns, generally speaking. I believe she died of emphysema a while back; powerful powerful aura

absolutely especially if the clown is a red herring and actually mirthful and whimsical to throw you off the real horror so you suspect the clown but they were just trying to bring joy the whole time

Oh man. I watched the Bozo Show but I liked the games and wished it didn’t have a clown lead. I always thought clowns were weird, at best. They were always annoying.
