I don’t think I did it long enough, and it was a long time ago so probably safer in some respects. I did deliver to some very sketchy places that I didn’t have great feelings about, but nothing ever happened. I will say that I was more likely to get a better proportional tip from the “worse” places than from the well-to-do mini-mansions. Even got a tip once in handfuls of loose change. Sounds cheap, but it was all they had and far more than those rich snobs would do. The giveaway is when you’d ask them if they wanted change back (this was back when credit was still a new thing and we did cash or check). There would be two groups - the ones who said yes but were okay with rounding to the nearest dollar, and then the ones who got pissed because you didn’t have change to the penny. For the latter, fuck you and your pizza.

It took me 3 months. Luckily it was just a wrong address, and I’m white. It could have been a different story if it were darker or if I were.

I did delivery for almost 20.years. Never had a gun pulled on me, couple of knives though. My 6 D-Cell Maglight convinced those two idiots to go find an easier mark.
