Amateurs. You should always assume a microphone is live.
That’s why I stopped talking entirely
My fellow Americans, I’ve signed legislation today that will outlaw Russia forever, we begin bombing in 5 minutes.
Also…just because you’re muted doesn’t mean the sound person can’t hear you…
Leave the field crews in cue until it’s time for their hit unless they’re being too loud!
One time while i was running spot, talent came off stage right before intermission and in the house you heard “hold on, i gotta go” and then an earth shattering fart over the PA.
Both the talent and newer audio guy got a talking to after the show lmao
Your king!
Serious question: Why does the polycarbonate ballpoint pen not only still have a label on it while in use, but a label that is also in several languages? That’s one thing that I’d guess most people in the world would instantly recognize.
It’s only in 2 languages. English and Japanese, and it was made in Japan, so that kinda makes sense.
Removing some labels leaves a sticky residue, so sometimes it’s easier to leave it.
Do not assume you are muted until you hear “clear,” clear?
“I DO THE ANNOUNCEMENTS! I AM THE SECOND COMING! I SPEAK FOR GOD NOW!” frantically speaking in tongues “AKUGUBULGABBAGABBAHEY”

I didn’t
“Gabba gabba hey” is from the 1932 movie Freaks and was subsequently used in the 1977 Ramones song Pinhead. It’s since popped up in popular culture in various places, including whatever it is that the OP is referencing.
I always thought was ‘gobble gobble’ pronounced weirdly because they were freaks. Great film. One of us. One of us.
I’ve gotta be one of six people on Earth who learned about it from Clerks: The Animated series.
It happened in American Dad!, but I’m not sure if that’s what’s being referenced here.
Gabbagabbahey was one of the cheat codes in descent - I forget what it did
It was also apparently a song by The Ramones! I also thing it was referenced in The Simpsons (but what wasn’t).
Huh, TIL…
Thanks!
*and we’re off? Good. Well, that ought to hold the little bastards "
Good niiiiiiiiiiiiight
That’s basic professionalism but also producers can be too distracted with the next part to clear the crew. Sometimes I’d end up clearing the crew even though I was running audio or Quality Control.
Coworker: (unintelligible talking)
Boss: [coworker], turn off your radio
Coworker: (more sound)
Boss: Where are you? TURN OFF YOUR RADIO
Coworker: (unbroken 2 minutes of mumbles)
Boss, through my coworker’s radio: Turn OFF your FUCKING RADIO
This was like 10+ years ago but IIRC she tossed her bag on her walkie talkie and the button was getting held. This was also before the event so not a big deal, but still really funny
Brilliant! Thanks for the laughs :,D
