And here we see an important lesson in UI design.

we came to the conclusion that while Die Hard had done so much in fresh and interesting ways at the time, it had been so thoroughly copied from by so many other films that it offered little to an uninitiated modern audience, looking back.
This becomes SO obvious when you look at “the great classics”. Citizen Kane is, by all modern standards, a pretty boring and uninspiring movie about a really lame topic.
But at the time, it was absolutely groundbreaking. It basically pioneered half a dozen techniques such as “letting foreground and background be in focus at the same time” and “nonlinear storytelling” (which of course was hugely telegraphed, because it was new) and “using a montage” with “Sound to make transitions”. He also used such amazing techniques such as “long takes” up to several minutes. He moved the camera around, not just taking a stage-view, but low and high angle shots, and then he added lighting to make things stand out.
Stuff like that is now SO basic that they might not even teach it in filmschool, simply because people are inundated with it from modern media. Orson Welles basically invented all of that though, and it was revolutionary. Now it’s just boring a movie about an asshole’s sled.
Dresses with pockets exist. All of my dresses have pockets.
It does take a bit more effort to find them though.
Can you show a link that supports that? Because I distinctly recall these companies opposing this measure.
Quite a lot of issues the rest of us have would be fixed if more straight white able bodied cis men got the therapy they need.
For example, [Hungary has] dropped to 26th place among EU members in terms of anti-corruption controls and to the last, 27th place in terms of the quality of regulation.
That’s out of 27, just to be clear
Because dimension door makes the shittiest part easy.
The UK, meanwhile, made it very very clear which island they used for their anthrax testing in WW2.
Does anyone know where this picture is from? For uhh…a friend…
Solution 1: don’t go to fascist shitholes.
Solution 2: have a burner phone if you can’t avoid it.
What’s wrong with gsm?
This is basically exactly what Vintage Story does. And it’s working extremely well for them
Did they get together “on set” or unrelated? Because that’d be so cool
Do note that “establishing a no-fly zone” means you’ll need planes over the border. Which means you’ll need to bomb the shit out of every AA missile in Russia. Which means you’ll need to destroy every airfield as well, because their planes will defend their AA missile launchers.
I mean, I’m all for it, but it’s important to note that the Libya no-fly zone was established mostly through bombing the shit out of Libya, not through air-to-air engagements. Russia will be worse.
Yes, doing something useless is often cheap.
For art owned by individuals, it’s easy. Yes, absolutely.
But imagine Amsterdam gets ransacked and they steal the Nighwatch. A hundred and fifty years from now, the painting gets returned to the great grandson of Femke Halsema, the last mayor of Amsterdam.
Is that right? Should it go to the grandnephew of the king? Or the son of the last museumdirector, who had it under permanent loan? Or the granddaughter of the final prime minister? Should it be donated the the people of Nova Hollandia (the fictional successor state)?
There are no easy answers here
Irl London has the most cameras per Capita and per Area. It’s not entirely fictional
I feel rather mixed about this. They’re not going the national archives or anything, but into the private collection of some dude whose ancestor happened to be king.
I have no idea if this actually benefits the people or just the dude.
Oh no, people are being prioritized over profits!
