The fact that ten of them happened and no one stopped to think “Are we sure this time?” bothers me.
They know these aren’t traffickers, they’re not that stupid. They’re trying to provoke a response from Venezuela or Colombia now so they can justify further escalation.

And they aren’t even doing this to drug traffickers anyway. Plenty of drugs are smuggled into the US by dangerous organizations who are helped by the US government. The feds would rather blow up boats carrying fruit than boats carrying cocaine because there’s probably half a dozen CIA/FBI/DEA guys on the cocaine boat.
The pretext is incredibly flimsy anyway. A fishing boat doesnt have the range to travel several hundred miles to reach the american coastline from venezuela.
