Transforming on a trigger in first main phase is weird, and the front side gets that ability until end of turn on ETB even though the card doesn’t have haste. Odd design IMO, and not flexible enough to really see play outside a merfolk deck.

Unrelated, but how the hell are we getting spoilers already for a new set? This is just getting ridiculous.

Edit: wait it’s a leak my bad

These likely would have been revealed Magiccon Atlanta this weekend even if they weren’t leaked. Welcome to eternal spoiler season. I’ve found that ignoring UB sets reduces the number of spoilers to a reasonable level

does the backside represent Shadowmoor? I can’t recall what the Merfolk colors were for each planeform. I wonder if they are trying to combine everything or just sticking with the Lorwyn style

Merfolk were UW in Lorwyn and UB in Shadowmoor. But I’m guessing those colors will likely be scrambled since it sounds like the plane is stuck halfway based on the title

I think they might’ve oopsied the arts on this one. The lorwyn “river guide” gave protection, while the darker shadowmoor “cutthroat” gave card draw… but the art seems to be switched, particularly on the alt arts.
