I had one person show up to my Saturday prerelease, no one on Friday.
I have sold less than I sold of Aetherdrift on prerelease weekend (2 booster boxes, 1 bundle, 2 booster packs, 1 prerelease kit). Almost all of my preorders bailed on their orders, sadly I did not collect 50% at time of order like I usually do.
Someone sent a Reddit post to me with this meme.
UB haters watching a UB set eat shit:
(It’s me, I’m UB haters)
It’s too bad we can’t see overall pre-release attendance by set but there was a reddit thread on the main subreddit about attendance. All if it anecdotal but it seems like it’s pretty down overall. I’m not surprised either, regardless of UB they totally half-assed this entire set. It was originally planned to be an aftermath style booster, like those 7 cards, and this is what we get when executive leadership decries 6 standard sets a year. Upper management is the only force possible to ruin this game.

Design has been uninspired of a while now, everything has felt like “draw a card to place +1/+1 counters on a 3/3 token and animate a land” for years with any card outside if that being overcosted or instantly removed.
Making it a non optional part of corporate IP bingo doesn’t help.
I didnt even know the set was here. There were no spoilers on Lemmy like usual.
Part of the problem is every card has a split identity because they’re different names and art online. So spoilers were kinda weird
It does not help that we have a new set every eight weeks(?) this year. By the time we have recovered from one set there is another.
Right I get that, but maybe I would have expected a few posts. For the spoilers section i follow, all i see is Edge of Eternities, AtLA, then “heres a gallary of spiderman” .
And maybe its me, but I feel like EoE didnt even settle in yet. I feel like it was out for maybe a month before this spiderman set came out.
My store prerelease was packed when I went in to pick up an online order. I’ve heard anecdotally that the limited is fun so I’ll try drafting it at least once.
There is a reoccurring event for this set called Friendly Neighborhood Draft, I have not looked much into to run at my shop because getting enough people for draft here is painful.
I’m skipping this set. Too many releases to draft every one and pick two doesn’t interest me. Kinda hope it does poorly so Wizards doesn’t try to do the split IP model again. I think that is a travesty.
