Analysis and images of the parades is all over the internet and in the last megathread; for the China-India stuff I recommend this article, as well as the Tricontinental in general.

Image is from @xiaohongshu@hexbear.net’s comment in the last megathread.

Last week was the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2, and on such an occasion, China put on quite an impressive military parade, especially in comparison to the rather drab and corporate parade that the USA recently had. In attendance were many world leaders, including Putin, Kim Jong Un, and a very happy-looking Lukashenko.

This took place shortly after the SCO summit in Tianjin, in which Modi was notably in attendance. That one of the world’s most powerful fascists was in attendance in China near the anniversary of the World Antifascist War is obviously pretty ironic. Regardless, the mood was still relatively positive; for example, Xi announced the acceleration of the creation of the SCO development bank, and Indian-Chinese relations are once again in the thaw cycle of their long-term cyclical pattern, with direct flights resumed and links expanded. The fact that there is this much projected optimism from China about a Global South which is being increasingly tariffed, infiltrated, starved, looted, bombed, invaded, and massacred in the hundreds of thousands by rabid imperialist dogs is perhaps a little tone-deaf, but buoying up the SCO is better than doing nothing at all, I suppose.

Any astute Geopolitics Understander can tell you that this is certainly not India joining the side of the Global South, but instead a move somewhat forced upon them as they seek to balance both sides for their own gain. As Trump amps up pressure on India via tariffs, it is natural that India would seek leverage, and there is much that India gains: industrial development, increased intra-regional trade, and scientific knowledge from a China which has, in numerous fields, now pulled ahead of the USA. India is also facing numerous internal crises, ranging from run-of-the-mill capitalist incompetence and corruption, to worsening conditions for farmers, to the ravaging impacts of climate change, and increasing their links with China is a way to vent off a little of that pressure and protect Modi’s regime.

While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. With the events since the Trump assassination attempts and now this last few days (Charlie Kirk assasination and the Ukrainian refugee in the United States being murdered in cold blood on the train, honestly the Ukrainian woman getting murdered on the train was one of the worst videos I’ve ever seen), I think that the overton window is going to shift so far to the right that Trump will be considered a moderate. There’s no going back.

Trump won the popular vote (first time in 20 years for a Republican), and Republicans won the house and senate. Biggest win for Republicans in the electoral college since 1988, which was 36 years ago. Yes the Democrats ran a poor campaign, but the needle very much moved rightwards, otherwise such results wouldn’t have happened. Even if this shifts it only a little further, that’s a big deal.

What no? You`re severely underestimating the Dem’s “bad” campaign. It isn’t just Gaza even though that alone could be a victory if she pushed herself as a “revolutionary” pro-peace candidate, the problem there is how Biden was the one who started it. It was the years of Bidenonmics shit while people literaly not affording rent and food.

Democrats doing ghoul shit gaslighting how the economy is doing great because the stock market is rallying. All she had to do is lie, promise the crumbs and just don’t deliver, do another Bernie-lite campaign. The problem is they’d rather lose than hand out anything.

Kamala offered literaly nothing. Go back to the polls, the majority that was voting for her were just voting against Trump. It was doomed months before the election but the Dems were banking that anti-Trump vote would be enough. She even managed a temporary lead despite no offering anything, its just how much people hate Trump, again all they needed to do was actualy offer something meaningfully different from Biden.

Do you remember AOC going out of her way to defend Biden? That is how much they were clueless about the necessity to be different from Biden.

The Dems are the ones dragging the needle rightwards. Biden ran against Trump’s policies (vaguely, rhetorically) and then his re-election campaign which became Kamala’s election campaign did a complete 180 and the pitch was doing Trump shit but more competently. Nobody needed to shoot at Trump to give him the win, the DNC gift wrapped the election and hand delivered it to Mar A Lago.

warning, description of graphic video of a murder

As someone that has watched the full 18 minute video (and wished I didn’t, I don’t think I’ll ever be the same person after that), it’s a senseless killing by a complete deranged lunatic. The victim gets on the train after working late in uniform, sits down on the row in front of the perpetrator, never once makes contact or even communicates with him. 10 minutes later, the perpetrator stabs the victim multiple times and slits her throat, after playing and fiddling with their pocket knife for a few seconds before, like a serial killer in a horror movie. The victim bleeds out on the floor in complete shock for two minutes before someone helps her, a man from a completely different part of the train, no one in her immediate vicinity provided assistance. Only then do more people try help. As someone that lives in a country where violent crime is the norm and has seen many horrible videos online of people dying in war, genocide, and from crime, I honestly didn’t think much when I heard the story at first, so I went to watch the video, thinking I’m desensitised. But the full video is absolutely horrific and easily one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I can’t explain exactly why, but It’s just extremely horrific.

I hate talking about politics with such a tragedy. But it must be said, the backstory and the full video will be used to affirm every single part of the right wing worldview. I won’t go into details, but I really mean that right wingers will have every single part of their worldview affirmed by this, it’s going to be used as the far right’s “George Floyd” moment, for lack of a better term.

So the killer’s a Black, possibly queer-looking, dude?

                discussion of murder
                • killer was a black man and a serial repeat offender, was arrested 14 times beforehand.
                • killing takes place on public transit.
                • killer racially insults white woman victim after stabbing.
                • no one helps the victim for almost two minutes.
                • the victim was a refugee escaping a war zone on her way back home from working late, killer was homeless and unemployed with severe mental illness.

Pretty much every far right narrative about public transit being unsafe, career criminals and severely mentally ill people being let loose on the streets, anti white racism and killings, people being too afraid to offer help in public out of fear or getting involved or being charged themselves, about how hard working people are punished for trying to follow the American dream, it will all be validated and affirmed by this. Regardless of the facts, an incident like this on video will validate their entire worldview.

I won’t say, but for context our annual murder rate per 100 000 people was equal to annual conflict related deaths per 100 000 people in Afganistan while the US was at war with the Taliban, which led to the police minister at the time comparing our country to a war zone. We usually rank amongst the top 5 countries in the world for the highest murder rate. So violent crime is a very big issue.

A apparently mentally Ill person who’s been in and out of jail. Big focus in local news was that he was pending a psych evaluation. But like how do you have regular medical care when are living on the street?
