I don’t think daily usage necessitates addiction. In my opinion addiction is continually use despite negative repercussions because of fear of withdrawal / not being able to operate without it.
Like I have sugary coffee almost every day but I wouldn’t say I’m addicted because I’m not experiencing any negative consequences from it. If I were gaining weight or having heart problems and still kept to it then I’d say that’s an addiction.
Same with pot, some people can use it every day without suffering many consequences. If your gaining weight from the munchies, or getting a smokers cough, or becoming antisocial etc. and still use it, that’s when it becomes problematic.

How would you feel/do, when there is a stressful day and you cannot have your coffee?
As for pot, i have met and been a daily smoker for many years. Everybody i knew that smoked daily had some social or personal issues and it definitely affected their ability to focus, memory and emotional awareness negatively.
I don’t think that daily use of psychoactives can go without addiction. It can be beneficial as medication for some, but there will be side effects and withdrawal symptoms, like with non psychoactive medication too.

Future negative consequences or present negative consequence you are not yet aware of are still negative consequences.
I forget the details but I learned from my sister who worked in a rehab clinic that there are clinical criteria to diagnose addiction:
Does 4 out of 11 make me an addict? Idk that tolerance seems unfair lol
I can say yes to everything on this list with substances like alcohol, nicotine and amphetamine that I had problems with.
Almost zero checks with weed. There’s no compulsion with it.
I never told myself no weed today and 15min later it’s like I am watching myself go to the store to buy some.
You don’t have to check all to be considered addicted, though.
That’s true. I forgot the threshold how many you had to check for a diagnosis but the more you have, the more severe your addiction is
i would be delighted to learn what the threshold is. I’m sure I’m not the only person here this diagnostic has been used maliciously against
https://www.mentalhealth.com/library/diagnostic-criteria-for-substance-use-disorders#reference-3
“According to the DSM-5-TR, an SUD diagnosis is made when at least two of the following criteria are met within 12 months [3]”
https://www.publicsafetymedicine.org/leo/substance-use-disorders/appendix-a-dsm-iv-tr-and-dsm-5-diagnostic-criteria
"Code based on current severity:
Mild (2-3) Moderate (4-5) Severe (6+)"
This is why I don’t consider myself addicted. If my tolerance gets too high, I just quit for a couple of weeks.
