McHenry may be a POS pro corporate forced birth conservative… but he’s not an election denier at least. FFS can’t believe this is the bar that is being set

On January 6th 2021 he wrote a letter about decertifying the election and said he said “I cannot violate the oath I took to uphold my constitutional responsibilities”

Why not have the GOP nominate McHenry and see what the GOP decides?

Jeffries party is the minority and the idea of him being speaker is a pipe dream. As much as McHenry sucks, he’s the “best” option offered so far and doesn’t appear to be part of the Q Caucus.

      It’s almost exactly the bar!

Congressional Democrats said they would support a temporary Speaker until January provided:

      • They voted to certify the 2020 election
      • They aren’t in the Freedom Caucus
      • They support the debt ceiling deal between Biden and McCarthy
      • They have a “track record” of governing

FWIW, McHenry seems to meet all the requirements (he helped negotiate the debt ceiling bill)

Conservatives know they can’t remain in power under democracy. Their base is dying off rapidly. It’s simple math. They’ll have to move left, or get rid of democracy. And they’ll try everything else, no matter how awful, before they ever consider moving left.

      Preview of 2027:

The Speaker may be an fascist intent on ending democracy in the US but at least he’s not openly calling for the extermination of minorities like the far right members of his party.
