I think it is more that people can recognise the capitalist mode of doing stuff is fucking awful, but are told that communism is literally the worst thing in existence, so when people look for an alternative to capitalism, they find one that capital doesn’t consider a threat and are allowed to pine for a sort of Neo-feudalism.
