Dogshit policies like Medicaid for all, removing money from politics (again), and taxing the rich.

Harris/Biden ran on opposing all of these. The Dems can’t simultaneously fight against Bernie and progressives and then pretend at some point they were fore them because Bernie was in a Dem primary at one point and forced Dem candidates to find deceptive ways to deflect and lie like Harris saying “access to healthcare for all”

Policies they don’t actually support. If they did, they wouldnt let Manchin or Liberman or the parliamentarian or “norms” stop them. We’ve seen the dems can smash through barriers the same way Republicans can, they did it to illegally send weapons to Israel. We’ve seen they can whip votes and discipline their own party, they do it to any progressive who doesnt fall in line.

They’ve literally done these things whenever and to however much extent possible. You seem to think having permanently 50 or less senators overcomes the supermajority. It’s like you’re not even capable of parsing that information.

Republicans don’t allow that to stop them. When the Dems had all three branches of government during Obama’s first term they let McConnell fuck with judge picks the entire fucking time. What did the Dems do when Trump came into office and started picking judges? Fuck all.

          https://www.vice.com/en/article/here-are-the-senate-democrats-voting-for-trump-nominated-judges-and-why/

The Dems are a broken feckless party and need to be replaced. I don’t even know who their target base voter is, because it isn’t me. I am not looking for a center-right pro-billionaire party.

It also didn’t stop Democrats from passing the massive inflation reduction act.

The key here is Reconciliation of Budget, either the federal government shuts down in opposition to a bill like these or one party buckles to the other.

But with 50 or less that means getting rid of the rule holding Republicans back.

Just look how well it turned out removing filibuster for Cabinet appointees.

The filibuster that republicans remove when its convenient? The dems wouldnt need to proceed with the assumption the republicans were about to take control if they actually improved the immediate material conditions of their constituents. Theres also a million things they could have done by executive order.

I hate to “both sides” this conversation, but neither of these political parties have been working in the interests of the people for a real long time.

The filibuster has not been removed in my lifetime AFAIK.

The rules were modified to stop the senate from filibustering cabinet in 2013 and SCOTUS nominations in 2020, and remain not in effect to this day.

Before Trump 2.0 I think Biden held the record for executive orders.
